I saw them at High Voltage about 10 years ago. They were magical.

I love 1984 in its original vinyl version. Unlike anything else I have heard.

I agree.
There is so much information out there about those early days. I loved the feature about their first concert at Mrs. Balmes dance in Chobham. Amazing reading and a copy of the setlist too. All the Genesis books I have are poor with information on the pre Charisma days.

I would love to see that list.
-
Duke suite for me.
I wish they had issued it on one side at the time.
-
My first cd was...
Marillion Real to reel!!
-
I found this fascinating particularly with the Gabriel set list. Amazing detail and I felt myself actually be there on the day.

The whole Trick package was evocative. The double gatefold cover and intricate portraits of the characters from the record made it like a fairy story to me. It is my favourite record not just by Genesis but anybody. I love the production too which brings me back to 1981 when I first encountered it.
Musically everything is perfect apart from Robbery Assault. I do listen to that tune because of its place on the disc but I just wish Hackett could of offered Ace of Wands from his Acolyte record or Hands of the Priestess. Then blimey what a record it would have been. Favourite bit is all of side one. Just magical.

New IQ double cd.
Sounds very heavy and similar to Frequency. Having a wee bit of trouble getting into it.
-
A very strong coffee.

IQ go back a long way with me too. My favourite track is the live dvd version of The Seventh House when Martin Orford was still there and they had their first world war slides to support the song. I think it was recorded at a German festival.
I highly recommend IQ to anybody who loves Genesis.

That's spooky.
I just got back from my local hmv and they were playing the new Ian Gillan live cd. Sounded tremendous so I'm going to order it.
Orchestra plus Don Airey plus Demon's Eye.

Was Wembley 04 08 87 released on dvd or was that a different night?
-
New Prog mag in the UK has...
IQ A missile on it!
Sounds very metally to me with a Frequency similar riff.
-
Maybe the Glasgow Apollo concert from Three Sides Live from 1976. Wouldn't that whole concert be amazing to own with the dynamic crowd.

Imagine that Genesis somehow sort out their vast resources and they succumb to the wishes of their fans and begin to release some complete concerts. On cd and vinyl and cassette! The only stipulation is it must be a concert that they have previously released a fragment of on one of their previous releases. You can pick three. Here are mine...
1. Bingley Hall 10.7.76 from Archive 2.
2. Drury Lane London 5.5.80 from Archive 2
3. Shrine 24.1.75 from Archive 1 with proper 'It' plus encores.
What do you think?

Very contentious opinion here.
For me Trick and Wind haven't got one duff track. Every song fits in the overall picture over both albums including spookily the b sides.
Calling All Stations is in a similar position for me.

FGTR really works as a concept album and I have to play it like that.
It has begun...
You're in the hand of destiny.

Calling all stations is a fantastic cd.
Every song has a vibe and menace. I particularly enjoy There must be some other way and one mans fool. It does lack a sense of humour but song quality is ace.
Genesis haven't done a worst cd in my opinion.
