This is kind of how I felt when I was reading the lyrics of the Beatles' 'Come Together' for the first time. Like, seriously?

Perfect. A little clouds, a little sun, a little wind, not too warm, not too chilly. Couldn't be better.

As long as US citizens produce art like this I cannot agree with your statements about redeeming qualities.

Maybe I represent a minority but I always found Anything She Does beats Whodunnit as worst ever Genesis song by miles.
-
That reminds me on how I found the In The Air Tonight riff in The Light. Listen to this part:

Looks like a limiter/compressor. Have you tried it?

I am melting. 35°C today. Germany is being full of thunderstorms but my region gets skipped as usual.

Funny. A lot of what seems to bother all you guys about the Genesis album is what bothers me about IT. A trio album when all three of them had their hearts wrapped around their solo albums, trying to find a compromise between their diverging ideas, ending up with something that was less than the sum of its parts, produced to be a commercial killer.

Re the album title "Genesis", don't forget that before Abacab they were considering to change the band name, in the end they didn't.
-
Sunny and really warm. We already had a day with 29°C this week.
-
Abacab has to be the one song that constantly seemed to almost make it into set lists but turned out every time. Hasn't Phil said he had always problems to memorize its lyrics?
-
Maybe Genesis' 'Vancouver'? It has a synth line in the verses that is similar.

Re Genesis not having played any solo work in Genesis shows:

I think this is really a music journalists' thing. That public school boys band that don't know shit about rock'n'roll dumped their lead singer and the guy who divorced his wife by fax took them to the abysses of commercial sell-out...blah blah blah. There's always people who for a lack of ego follow those tabloid writers - who cares. Anyone who has an individual taste in music can see the merits of Genesis, whether you like it is up to you.

I’m proud to say I’m one such person, though to be specific I had previously suggested after the fact that Cinema Show be replaced by A in 9/8. For me the real “waiting for the person who will suggest” song is WhoDunnit. That stopped being clever about 45 suggestions ago.
Yup. They completely should of got Peter, Ant and Ray on stage for that one. "Was it you?" "Or was it me?!" "Or was it X? Or.....*ominous silence* ... Z???"
-
I wonder if there was some dropped song lyrics that inspired that picture. "Remember the day I was looking at the sky and you hammered my jaw one foot down" or sth.
-
*waits for the "they could have played Supper's Ready instead of X, Y and Z" person*
-
And here I thought this was music-related:
What other band are you listening to? None.
or:
What's your taste in music? None.
-
Wow, really a blast to read these lyrics. They were really quite airy-fairy at that time, lots about kings and queens and stuff.

I guess the scans on discogs are not what you are talking about?
