Always loved that one, one of Tony's finest!

Had no idea Flaming Youth did a BBC session. Wonderful stuff, looking forward to the next part.
Haha. Looks like Tim Renwick on guitar and Guy Pratt on bass, wondering if the drummer is Gary Wallis. No idea who is on keyboards though.
see first post, that's Adrian Lee (Mike + the Mechanics)
Just music, no politics please
So, now that 2023 has started - what do you expect (and what do you hope for) regarding
Genesis & solo (releases, tours etc)
other favorite bands and artists
My expectations / hopes:
Genesis: Releases from the archive
PG: a great new album, some surprises during the tour
PC: why not new music?
SH: a new rock abum with a modern sound and a decent vocalist.
TB: Still hoping for a final rock album
apart from Genesis:
A new Prefab Sprout album
Eurythmics album / tour
A Michael Stipe solo album
ok for me. The new mix from 2007 is far better than the original.
I agree. This one was never on my radar until I heard the new mix from 2007.
11/15
It's a great track, but I am a bit tired of it (has been played on the radio a lot back then and it's also not the best song for a live set)
Still one of his best.
13/15
One of their finest, imo
It also works well with Roachford singing. 14/15
Just listened to the second single. That's better than the first one (for me), hope the album has more tracks like that.
Just saw this (never saw this before)
If you want to discover Steve’s solo work, start with
Voyage of the acolyte
Please don’t touch
Spectral mornings
if you like more old style Prog gems
or try
Guitar noir
To watch the storms
Beyond the shrouded horizon
if you look for the more recent stuff.
the last three albums were my eye openers !
That is good news!
Maybe I will finally understand the bl**** story
Amsterdam only .. for now
11/15
It's a bit similar to my Darkness rating. I like the track, but it's by far not as good as early classics or later long tracks.
It's a good track, but 10/15 is appropriate here, imo
It's not as good as his all time classics, i.e. Secret world or San Jacinto.
I actually like the slow version of DASTA better. But that's - of course - a matter of taste ...
I like the early, faster version more! All Of My Life was also a great live version
Another underrated track by an underrated musician / songwriter. Ray did write a couple of really great tracks and this is one of them.
For me, this is one of their standout stracks from the trio period. It has power, edge, atmosphere, it's somewhat aggressive, strange, different. Just wonderful! They should have done that during their last tour ...
I like the energy of the 1990 band. One of my favs of that tour is this straight version of "The roof is leaking"
Swing low / Testify / Not too late
Least you can do is also nice, so is Can't stop loving you ... the rest is pretty boring.
Not sure how you can judge their longevity or otherwise. Likewise your assessment of disposability. I strongly suspect Swift and her work will be around for years to come. (And probably attain some form of Abba-esque reassessment at some point.) And Sheeran has hardly been a one-hit wonder.
I agree. I am not a fan (of neither of them), but the question how people will celebrate their legacy (or not) is not really predictable. Who knows what people like in 30 years time....
