As I've said elsewhere, I'm also a big fan of THE FUGITIVE. Tony's vocals on that album are a bit strained and inconsistent, but generally I'm OK with them.
That is also Mike's favorite from Tony.

Or, better still, 5.1! It's certainly an album that would be good to have in that format, as long as it's not overpriced.
For me, extra material like album outtakes not previously heard or even better, tour rehearsals would far outweigh 5.1.
But nowhere near enough, sadly. As an Al Stewart fan, I can't hear much similarity, the odd moment, but Tony, like Steve on Cured, didn't seem to put it in a key he could sing comfortably or naturally. Steve's worst was probably Can't Let Go, Tony's (from memory) was By You. Maybe, if he'd stuck at it, he'd have improved as Steve did.
Tony's voice I'll grant wasn't his forte but it was no more grating on the ears than Steve's vox on "Cured".
It might be unpopular to say so but I like Tony's singing because .... IT'S TONY. There is nothing wrong with his singing that a bit of work couldn't have improved. I think the vocal on This Is Love is as good as anyone else's. He was far too diffident about it & hung up about sounding like Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. Nothing wrong with that in my view.
He mentioned sounding like Al Stewart as well, which he did.
Our ears are probably hardwired differently then! I found Curious wispy and unmemorable.
Different tastes, different viewpoints. Conversely, I played ACF more than any other one of his releases.
If it's just a re-hash with heightened fidelity and what not, I'll not waste my money. If there are actual nice extras or perhaps some rehearsal/outtake segments not previously realized, then I'm there.
I kind of agree with both of you - ACF is my favorite, but I don't think any of them are stellar.
I will stick up for "Bankstatement" and even the "Soundtracks" compilation - I like quite a bit on both. I have a feeling I would like "Strictly, Inc." if I could ever locate a copy. I was always a fan of Jack Hues from Wang Chung. What I have heard from it I liked; I've never heard it all.
I like Bankstatement very much, the remainder of his solo catalog has some highlights, I think his weakest album is probably The Fugitive, although it has a couple of good songs, not his best outing. The fact that he sings on it really is the only thing that makes it somewhat interesting. Banks perceived his vocals as a cross between Al Stewart and John Lennon.
Still not worth the money that's being asked for it.
Once again, your opinion.
Wow. Just "wow".
Hey, I preferred Gabriel era Genesis sung by Gabriel, not unreasonable. To each his own point of view.
For those into hockey, who do you root for? The Penguins are my team.
ACF from my side of things, his first was his best. Perhaps since it came at the tail end of Prog and has that feel to it throughout (plus being the forever prog head I am), so goes my allegiance to that release. I like much of what he did thereafter but 'Curious' is my number 1.
I saw them do the Lamb some 10-15 years ago, great show.
I never really cared much for Phil's handling of the Lamb material, other than Carpet Crawlers.
I imagine any such publication would have to go some way to compete with Armando Gallo's work, which I bought for a tenth of the cost of Ellis's book.
Not competition to me, just a collector adding to what he has + I enjoy Robert's books, he was a long time photographer of the band, the number of photos he took of the group easily is into the 1000's.
