Phil Collins:
Tony Banks ordered Mike & I to turn Genesis into a full on pop group.
He even brought in the EW& Fire horn section and then threatened us with angry glares if we tried to refuse..

Quote“Absolutely would have joined Pickettywitch. I would have left Genesis to join Pickettywitch.
Pete, Tony & Mike:
'Ant who? - No, he never really contributed very much in the early days!'
Tony Banks:
'As has been well catalogued, I loved The Lamb with every fibre of my being, especially the heart rending story Pete wrote about it.'
Fond memories of this song.
Was helping prepare an older friends wedding venue in the early 1980's
He had his superb hifi. there for the evenings music.
Played this full belt in the large hall before everyone arrived - it sounded absolutely brilliant!!
Enter The Ring came on random in my car yesterday.
At first I thought it was a Yes track, then Jon Anderson solo. Eventually my brain told me it was one of Steve's new tracks - what a plonker I am!
I've heard he's just reached the fringes of Chobham..😉
I always play 'Feeding The Fire' when I play this song - for some reason my mind associates them together.
I''m just pleased to hear of Tony's involvement in anything!
Yes. I totally agree.👍
Yes I read:
QuoteSteve Hackett said the following about John Lennon:
“He gave an interview to radio that I’m yet to hear, but I think it’s Nigel Pierce in Norfolk who’s the DJ there. He said to me that he’d got a tape of Lennon talking to him; I’m not sure who he was talking to, but saying that he thought there were two bands who were true sons of the Beatles. He said one was ELO and one was Genesis.
I'd love to blend and merge all these short mainly vocal intros into one file to listen to...
1. When did you buy Selling England By The Pound (or have received it as a gift)?
In school aged about 15 in 1983.
2. How old were you when Selling England was released?
About six!
3. Was Selling England your first Genesis album? If not, how many Genesis albums did you own before getting Selling??
No, it was about the third one I bought.
4. If you had to rank all Genesis albums, where does Selling England stand?
It's one of my faves. Genesis Shapes and Trespass being my top two!!
5. Which track was your favourite when you bought the album?
I know what I like...
6. Which track is your favourite today?
Cinema Show
7. Which track do you think is the best track on the record despite your own taste?
Firth Of Fifth - couldn't get behind it as Phil would say though when I was 15..
8. How many versions of the album have you bought / owned? (Vinyl, CD, Remaster, Cassette, SACD etc)
Record, cd, remastered cd, remixed cd...
Thanks for the further titles - 👍👍
Apologies if this has been covered before.
How many Genesis songs can we think of that that have vocal intros before the main song begins - or mainly vocal intros?
The song that got me started on this thought was Silver Rainbow..
1.Silver Rainbow
2.Cul-De-Sac
3.Looking For Someone
4.Dancing With The Moonlit Knight
Any others>>
Bought the single and the album - I loved the album - bought Trespass on vinyl around the same time - they're two of my fave Genesis lp's - yes I am strange!
Just wish Ant had done one more album before he left... 😢
Just got the album.
Most enjoyable.
The track 'Circus Of Wire Dolls' reminds me of the sound you would get if Trevor Rabin & Marillion did a song together.
Still searching for lyrics!
