Does anybody have a clue what songs were blocked by Youtube?
Actually I think Fish has a writing credit on Shortcut to Somewhere
I think he also has a credit on 'Another Murder of a Day'. I also think Jack Hues might have some writing credits on the Strictly, Inc album
I know of studio work by Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips, but I can't think of a single instance where Tony Banks has recorded with anyone but Genesis (and his solo stuff). Does anybody know of anything he's recorded with others?
it's still bizzar that because they released this live album, they chose to ignore Mama & Invisible Touch live albums.
I never understood the logic, that these two eras were dismissed & still are.
I'm certain live albums especially of IT in 1988 would have been huge seller for them, to help bridge a 5 year gap between albums
Are those really two eras? Every album is an era? In that case, most every "era" was ignored as far as live albums.
They released 4 live albums during their career, not counting the boxed sets. It's not like they were releasing live albums of every tour. Those two albums are pretty well represented on The Way We Walk discs.
As far as SO vs 3SL, the playing is better on 3SL, the sound is better on 3SL, but I listen to SO much more often, because the selection of songs on it is much better (for my tastes).
Anything she does is awful, but Tony wrote it, so it went on the album
but, Tony also wrote ‘Feeding the Fire’….so, by that logic, shouldn’t it also be on the album?
Not to be picky, there is also the Elephant sound in No Son of Mine.
Not to be picky, but I don’t think that’s what the OP was going for.
Selling England also has horse in ‘Dancing with the Moonlit Knight’
Anything she does is awful, but Tony wrote it, so it went on the album
Or, maybe they liked it. I’m pretty sure Tony wrote at least one of the songs that didn’t make the album.
Anything She Does is pretty lightweight, but it’s far from the worst song on the album.
It's just that IT could have been The Fugitive 2 without Phil. Yes, the tour would have been Tuesday night at the Odeon instead of 3 nights at Wembley Stadium!
Shame that it wasn't. I would much rather listen to The Fugitive than to listen to Invisible Touch. Tony wrote incredible music, but couldn't connect with the masses. Probably because of his unusual chords and progressions.....which is what I love about his composing.
Last week on the way home from work I heard "Looking for Someone" on Sirius XM Deep Tracks Satellite Radio. I had never heard that one on the radio, daytime or night.
I've heard all kinds of Genesis stuff on deep tracks, including several from From Genesis to Revelation, including one of the demos "She Is Beautiful". The most surprising one I've heard on Deep Tracks was "The Waiting Room". I wonder how many people switched stations during that one
He could mean that someone will do arrangements of Genesis songs for classical instruments, which could have potential, with or without vocals. Gabriel's New Blood worked quite well, at least for some songs.
It's already been done a few times. I've got one called "We Know What We Like" by the London Symphony. I've got another one by a chamber music quartet. I'm pretty sure I have one or two others.
Obviously speculation but I took it to mean Tony is doing some more classical. He goes on to say basically he doesn’t know what Phil and Mike will do but there’s always stuff on the go
I could be totally wrong, but the way he phrased it, I'm assuming it's Genesis stuff with orchestration as opposed to Tony Banks.
So as I was thumbing thru the tour program credits, I noticed old pal Steve Jones got a promotion to tour manager, good on him.
In the thanks, I saw Anthony Drennen's name mentioned. Did anyone happen to see what role he played in the tour or rehersals?
He did a nice job on CAS tour from what I saw. That did catch my eye.
Apparently, Daryl's wife has some health issues, and Anthony Drennen was prepared to come in for Daryl if Daryl needed to be with his wife.
It has to do with Phil….
Regular (non-electric) drums?
Preparing for the concert the 21st in Amsterdam, I was just listening to Genesis alias the shapes album.
Little quiz-question: this album hasn’t got something that all the other albums have. So what is it?
(it is not the lack of b-sides)
A title?
Just watched a documentary and it named a Genesis song as being unique where it could be argued that it was written by seven members of Genesis. Which song? Clue --- There's a documentary knocking about that tells you!!
The Musical Box
I cannot see Peter doing this. We've heard nothing from him in a while now, not even his solo stuff. Why should he join this tour .
I don't think anybody's talking about joining the tour. Just the possibility of coming out on stage for Carpet Crawlers as the last (ever) encore.
For me it would be
Voyage of the Acolyte
Spectral Mornings
Wild Orchids
Firth of Fifth.
Or maybe Musical Box. Or Cinema Show.
Hard to pick just one
