Steve has added more shows in December, following the postponement of a couple of Canadian shows earlier this year:
Steve's energy levels are simply amazing for a man of his age, or even for someone 15 years younger!

There is another obstacle, I suspect, in that Tony Banks appears to be of the opinion that Nick Davis has golden ears. I sense many out there hold a different opinion of his mastering and mixing choices
This has been widely debated but I'm pretty sure that Nick was only responsible for the remixing (generally very good, in my view) but not for the remastering (very poor, in my view).
One of my favourite live albums. All musicians at the top of their game.
Acoustic version of Heat Of The Moment is excellent.
Yes - Close To The Edge
Mine's also arrived from Burning Shed.
Attention to detail somewhat lacking:
- the front cover looks the same as the original but the back and spine text is written as SMALL CREEP'S DAY (three words), rather than SMALLCREEP'S DAY.
- they also missed the opportunity to correct the spelling of David Hentschel's name - still shown as Hentscel like the original.
Nevertheless, great to have this again years after losing my first CD version. Bring on the 5.1 surround mix!
I could accept that there won't be a blu ray for the current tour if the band would put out a blu ray of the When in Rome tour.
Yes indeed - I have yet to hear any good reason why this was never released in the first place.
We know the hi-def version exists so it just feels like a massive disservice to fans that it still isn't available. It's not like Tony Smith to pass up a golden opportunity for another pension fund top up.
As many of have commented on other threads, the experience of this tour in-person is better than watching the videos. In-person the energy of the crowd, the sensory overload of the visuals, the volume and power of the music, all of these combine to make the experience worthwhile.
Watching the videos on a screen at home or at work, the flaws start becoming more prominent, especially on repeat viewings. You notice when Phil flubs a line or can't hit a higher note with authority. You notice when Nic's drumming is very good, but lacks the extra layer of finesse or complexity that Chester or Phil brought in earlier tours.
My guess is that the members of the band probably know this too - that their performances are still meaningful in the live context, but this is not the tour to save for posterity. Better that the fans can instead watch them in their performing prime. I can understand that and might probably have made the same decision if I were in their situation.
Spot on. 'When In Rome' captures the later years peak, in my view. And I think the whole band recognises this.
Nevertheless, so grateful that they have given us this final 'in the moment' live experience as a last hurrah, even without an official video memento.
Got my copy! This CD doesn't need any remastering, it sounds fantastic! So much better than these illegal mp3s. And it doesn't have any of that loudness crap!
I know - but just think of what they could have done with a 5.1 remix
unlikely
He’s in Canada when Genesis play their last shows
Live video link? (incredibly unlikely, but not impossible!)
Great to see this available again but such a pity that Mark Powell at Esoteric couldn't get his hands on it to give us an expanded edition with a 5.1 surround mix like he did for A Curious Feeling.
Never mind the re-mastered Vols I and II which still showcase Ants' immense talents, the previously unreleased Masquerade material is simply fantastic.
The song 'Moon's Lament For The Sun' is worth the entry price alone!
I can't recommend this box set highly enough.
This album was released a year ago today.
did you buy the album? What are your favorite tracks?
Yes, I got this as soon as I could. Beautifully written and played; certainly captures the Mediterranean mood very well.
Favourite track: Casa del Fauno - mainly due to the wonderful flute playing.
Least favourite: Mdina - as the first track, this nearly put me off listening to the rest of the album. Just too loud at the beginning for my taste but then it does settle down more in keeping with the rest of the album.
Overall, I greatly prefer this to Surrender of Silence.
Before I sent in a correction many years ago, their review of Seconds Out mentioned Phil's fine keyboard solo in Robbery, Assault and Battery
Ah, I can see exactly where they got that idea from
The drumming credits on Seconds Out are as follows:
"All Drums Chester except:
Robbery Assault and Battery - keyboard solo Phil
Firth of Fifth - Phil & Chester......"
They clearly misunderstood that to mean Phil was actually playing the keyboard solo, as opposed to drumming on his own during the keyboard solo.
I'll play....
'And The Band Played On' with Phil Collins in a relatively minor role.
They did that, did they? I remember it being talked about among fans but was there some kind of announcement by management?
My memory may be playing tricks but I seem to recall from one of the old forums that there were regular updates about activity at The Farm with pictures of them cataloguing the sound board cassette tapes.
And there were definitely statements about how well things were progressing, likelihood of release, etc.
I was surprised at the time because I realised how reluctant they had been previously to get involved with this sort of thing.
Well, the main reason is that they don't like re-issues at all. We have been in touch with the management for years trying to lobby our interests for several projects, also the baord tapes. Truth is that all three of them are not fans of rereleasing stuff again and again and are also very picky about quality (board tapes etc).
It is unfortunate that the band /management gave very strong indications that the board tapes were going to be released in some form, and then finally decided to do nothing.
They should have checked whether the quality of the recordings was up to their exacting standards before raising expectations amongst the fans.
Maybe we'll get to see those eventually on a Blu-Ray.
Maybe, but I suspect you'll have to buy the standard DVD first.
Then perhaps they'll release the Blu-Ray at the same time as 'When In Rome' when Tony Smith needs another pay day?
