On 29/07/2022 RealWorld (Distributor: Rough Trade) will release a double album of live recordings from the very first WOMAD Festival in 1982: Live At WOMAD 1982.
Included will be individual tracks from the various artists who performed back then. Included are Robert Fripp, Peter Hammill, Simple Minds, The Chieftains and of course world music artists like The Drummers of Burundi, The Musicians of the Nile and Ekome. Peter Gabriel is represented with two tracks: I Have the Touch and Biko (together with Ekome).
The album will be released on double CD and LP, with the LP containing two tracks less.
According to the press release, it was a challenge in "overcoming many technical challenges to ensure these vital, historic performances were saved." The 40 years old audio tapes needed to be restored.
