A few months ago, Steve Hackett releases the extensive 14 Disc Boxset Premonitions - The Charisma Years. It contains his first six solo albums along with live material and also new stereo and surround mixes of his first four solo albums - mixed by Steven Wilson.
While Voyage Of The Acolyte and Defector are only Fake Surround mixes (the original master tapes could not be found), there are real new mixes of Please Don't Touch and Spectral Mornings available in stereo and 5.1 surround. So far, thiese mixes were only available as part of the Premonitions boxset. By the end of May, the albums Please Don't Touch, Spectral Mornings and Defector will be available as a stand alone release. The format will be a 2CD/DVD-Digipak with original artwork. All three albums contain the original stereo mix and the new stereo mix as well as the 5.1 surround sound on DVD, created by Steven Wilson. There are some bonus tracks on the first disc, some of them were already on the first remaster version, all of them were part of Premonitions. Voyage Of The Acolyte is missing here, but should be released later this year as well, according to Steve. Please remember, Defector does only have a fake-surround mix (Upmix of the original stereo).
Meanwhile, a Vinyl Boxset spanning The Charisma Years (9 LPs) will also be released on 27th May. There is no information on the exact contact yet, but it should contain the six albums Voyage Of The Acolyte, Please Don't Touch, Spectral Mornings, Defector, Cured and Highly Strung.
