Peter Gabriel’s orchestra project turned out to be unexpectedly successful – at least at a level which caused yet another distraction from working on a new album. Meanwhile, Peter was also quite creative elsewhere.
Not only the album So became his most successful album to date, there are also an awful lot of remixes and edits of the stuff from that period. That’s why part 5 is the most extensive part of the compendium … so far.
The fourth album also took him two years to finish. With the growing confidence within his own style, Peters reputation also increased as well as his approach to work with different people. In addition, Peter developed an interest for world music, which also had an enormeous effect on his output.
