In the frame of the latest Mike + The Mechanics website special (click here to read it), Genesis News Com have also discussed a few other things with the Genesis management.
As everyone is aware of, there has been a lot discussion regarding the "board tapes"-project. We have seen photos of the tapes and up to the Turn It On Again Tour time, it seemed likely that these tapes will see the light of the (fan-) day at some point. Sadly, the project was put to rest as they feel the quality of the tapes is simply not good enough.
The When In Rome 2007 material was also filmed in HD-format. Nevertheless, they do not have any plans to release that on Blu-ray anytime soon and there also won't be an upgrade of the Live At Wembley Stadium DVD (this was not filmed in HD anyway). The band feels that the 5 Boxsets are the final word on their studio albums and Live-DVDs.
Despite that, the 1976-1982 Boxset will be reissued on Vinyl later this year (the 1970-1975 Boxset has already been released on vinyl). They will also rerelease Seconds Out on vinyl. At this point we have no further information about the details, i.e. release dates and vinyl quality, but we will keep you up to date.
