Arnold McCuller and Jerry Marotta: The Star Spangled Banner

In time for the Independence Day of the United Staes Of America a few days ago, Arnold McCuller and Jerry Marotta released their version of the national anthem.
Both are common names in the Genesis family. Arnold McCuller was a long-time member and background singer in Phil Collins’ live band. Jerry Marotta is best known for his drumming in the early Peter Gabriel band.
Now, the two have recorded their own version of The Star Spangled Banner. It highlights the rarely performed second and fourth verses of the U.S. national anthem. The official press release adds: “Inspired by McCuller’s memorable 2002 performance of the fourth verse in The Sum of All Fears, a movie based on a Tom Clancy novel staring Morgan Freeman and Ben Affleck, the new rendition is a fresh take on this patriotic classic, anchored by Marotta’s inventive percussion-based arrangement.”
Marotta and McCuller are joined by Ariel Shafir and Doug Stringer on Snare Drum. Their version of The Star Spangled Banner is available on Bandcamp.
