Find out more about our Christmas prediction game from 1 to 24 December on our German website and how you can participate if you do not understand German.

Preface

The game is running on our German website in German language. If you do not understand German and are still interested to participate, you may use translation software / services. We know this works as some non-German speaking fans participate every year.

Above all: This game is fun and it contains 24 individual steps. Knowledge is not needed, just a little instinct what the majority thinks.

A forum account (German forum) is required to participate. If you do not yet have an account, you can register here.

Important: Every new user must confirm their account (you will receive an email with a link) and will also be manually activated by the admin to avoid SPAM. Please allow a few hours for this. We are usually quicker than that. And, of course, you must use a valid email address.

If you have forgotten your password or username, please contact Christian (please provide at least the email address you used to register on the forum, but if possible also your username).

Once you have an active account, you are ready to go. You must log in to our German forum and then you can participate.

Rules and how it works

Every day we ask you two questions

The game runs from 1 December to 24 December, which means there are 24 chances to earn points.

In the first survey, you answer a multiple-choice question according to the question and answer options.

The second survey is decisive for the scoring. Regardless of your own answer in survey 1, you must now estimate how the majority of the community answered the first survey. It is also possible to predict two winners (exact tie in votes!) or even a tie for all three options if the first question allows such a result. In recent years, there have been such ties between two options, but those appear to be rare.

And every time you are correct, you earn points that you can accumulate over 24 match days. At the end, there will be a winner.

Example 1: We ask for your favorite track out of three in our list (for example: Mama, No Son of Mine, Get’em Out By Friday). You choose your favorite. And then you have to predict which track will win the survey. So you can vote for Get’em Out By Friday and still think No Son Of Mine will will.

Example 2: We may ask a different kind of question: You get 6 albums to choose from and you have two votes to vote for your favorite album. In the second survey, we we want to know which track will be ranked second in the result of the first survey. If you predict this correctly, you earn points.

Example 3: We ask how many times you have seen Steve Hackett live. The second survey will then ask for how many times the majority has seen Steve (options will look like: never, 1-2 shows, 3-5 shows, 6-10 shows, more than 10).

The surveys are only active from 0:01 to 23:59 on each prediction game day, so you must vote in both surveys during the course of the day. You cannot see the interim results; these will only be published once the poll has ended.

We will publish your own voting behaviour (and that of others) in survey 2 on the corresponding prediction game day page during the course of the day!

Scoring

The following scoring system applies to a standard match day. Any deviations from this scoring system for special questions will be explained on the respective day.

1) Anyone who predicts the correct winner (= selection option with the most votes) receives 3 points.
2) Anyone who predicts a winner but there are two winners receives 1 point.
3) Anyone who predicts 2 winners and is correct receives 6 points
4) Anyone who predicts an exact tie between all 3 suggestions/candidates and is correct receives 12 points.
5) Anyone who predicts 2 winners and only one of the two predicted winners wins receives 1 point.
6) Anyone who predicts two winners and two win, but only one of the predicted winners, receives two points.
7) All other combinations do not earn any points.

On some match days, points are awarded differently, for example in guessing questions or picture puzzles. Any deviations from the usual scoring system will always be explained on the day.

Email service via forum user group

We will also be happy to keep you up to date on the progress of the prediction game via email. To receive these updates, you must be a member of the prediction game user group in the forum (if you were a member last year, you are automatically included). You can only access the link if you are logged in to the it forum.
