Fanclub Meeting 2002 – Report

This fanclub meeting was also the release party for our first fan club CD. Here is our report from 2002.

… not only Mulch and Morrell

A look back at the it Fanclub Meeting on March 24, 2002

This year's fanclub meeting took place on March 24, at an unusual time and announced at relatively short notice. An event on the usual Pentecost Sunday would have been too close to The Musical Box UK tour, and some of you might not have been able to attend. But it also made the organization less stressful for us than preparing for our trip and the associated interviews.

The meeting was all about the release of the it fan club CD It's Only Knock And Knowall and the club's tenth anniversary. After the welcome, we briefly introduced the CD. Helmut talked a little about the history of the project, and we presented the spoken greetings from the Genesis band members for the first time. The exhibition featured various items related to the production of the CD, as well as a large selection of pictures and all kinds of material from ten years of the Germany Genesis Fanclub it.

A new addition to the program was the raffle, with the grand prize being a complete set of Japanese Genesis CDs in paper sleeves. We think you enjoyed it, but our popular "Rudi's Quiz" will be back at the next club day because it allows the audience to participate much more actively.

For many of you, the highlight of the day was the live performance by John Morrell (guitar and vocals) and Robert Mulch (keyboards, etc.), who gave sensational renditions of songs by Genesis and others. The two professional musicians (though not exclusively in the field of "Genesis covers") impressed with their skill, but above all with their charm and humor.

As always, the day ended at the collectors' market, where some had the opportunity to complete their collections.

All in all, this anniversary club day was another success, perhaps even one of the best we have ever organized, thanks to the great live act. Unfortunately, not as many of you came to Welkers as usual this time, which gives us pause for thought. However, we believe that the short-notice change of date was probably the main reason for the modest turnout. We therefore hope to have a full house again at the next meeting and promise to do everything we can to ensure that you don't get bored at Welkers. The next it club day will take place on June 8, 2003, at Welkers, and we just hope that this date doesn't coincide with the Peter Gabriel tour, for example.

This time, the program booklet was not a variation on a familiar tour program but (like the admission pass and the meeting logo) was entirely dedicated to the it fanclub CD and its cover illustration by Paul Whitehead.
