Fanclub Meeting 2003 – Report

The 2003 meeting featured many familiar elements and a few changes, primarily personnel changes in the form of a fourth editorial team member.

Once again, the tranquil Eichenzell-Welkers was the venue for a fan club meeting of the German Genesis fan club at Pentecost 2003. After eight events at the same location, we and the visitors were very familiar with the premises. Little changed in the tried-and-tested concept. There was a raffle, Rudi's quiz, a video block with interesting recordings of Genesis & Co., and a collectors' market.

A new addition to the usual catering was a very original Genesis cocktail bar. Club member Katrin Moelke came up with this idea and offered a variety of cocktails with promising names alluding to Genesis, which were sampled by many visitors and found to be excellent.

Another new development was the "addition to the family" of the fanclub editorial team a few months earlier, which was now also evident at the meeting. Christian had become the fourth member of the editorial team in 2002. He brought a breath of fresh air to the club. His eloquence immediately qualified him as the new moderator at fan club meetings.

We were once again able to secure John Morell as our live ac. This time as a trio, again with Robert Mulch on keyboards, but reinforced by a drummer. They presented a first-class set with interpretations of songs by Genesis & Co. Club member Eddy Pachali, who was fondly remembered by the audience from his performances at previous club days, appeared as a guest singer for one song (unfortunately without "Moving Flowers" this time).

However, this marked the gradual end of "normal" fanclub meetings. In the future, we wanted to offer something more and also organize additional events on specific topics/albums.
