In March, Ant records new versions of Lucy: An Illusion and I Saw You Today and has Harry Williamson as a guest again in his home studio, with whom he finally puts the joint Gypsy Suite on tape after the demos of 1975. Afterwards, orchestral arrangements of the joint work Tarka are recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Ant's friend Jeremy Gilbert at the CTS Studios in Wembley, London, which will be the last activity on this project for the next ten years.

In autumn, he also starts working with producer Rupert Hine on a musical adaptation of Kit Williams' book Masquerade, published in August. Ant also treats himself to a studio upgrade by replacing his two TEAC tape machines with an Allen & Heath Brenell Mini 8 tape recorder, which will serve him faithfully for the next eight years ...
