Genesis: “Lamb”-boxset delayed again

There are several new release dates circulating for the The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway deluxe box set. We separate facts from rumours.

The box set was originally due to be released on 28 March and was then postponed to 13 June. The reason for this was probably (possibly among other things) the production of the new Atmos mix, which required more time. The promo campaign was already underway and some pre-release tracks have been released since then.

New release dates have been circulating on the internet for a few weeks now. Initially, there was talk of 22 August. Amazon Italy even ‘announced’ a date in early 2026. Some other sellers list a date in December. These are just a few examples. Rhino has now announced 26 September. The official Genesis platforms, on the other hand, have not yet changed the announcement. They continue to announce the set for 13 June.

A couple of weeks ago, we have received confirmation that the Lamb box set will not be released on 13 June, but later. However, there is no new date yet. No specific reasons have been given, but even Genesis cannot override the mechanisms of the market.

One can assume that the production of the set requires a longer preparation. You don’t get slots for the production of vinyl or the box set as a whole quickly and you need enough lead time. A delay always means that you have to find new slots. This also applies if you want to produce more box sets than initially planned because demand is higher than expected.

The latter is probably also a point. In Germany and some other countries, demand seems to be significantly higher than supply. Amazon and JPC n Germany, for their part, have obviously paused pre-sales (at least for the 4CD/Blu-ray set) because there is no clear release date and also they need to increase their own stock.

Conclusion: On the basis of the circumstances described, we can assume that new production dates will only be sought once the contents of the box set are (at least foreseeably) complete. And then there should also be a new date from the official Genesis channels.
