Peter Gabriel: Next album will be called “o/i”

As part of the MOJO Genesis cover feature, Peter Gabriel revealed that he is working on the follow-up to i/o and that it will be called o/i.
Even before the release of his latest album i/o, Peter Gabriel revealed that he already has more songs ready. In a Full Moon Club video, he also revealed that the song What Lies Ahead ‘will be on the next album’.
On his tour, Peter also occasionally spoke about the time after i/o and also said from time to time that the successor could be called o/i. And this is exactly what he has now reaffirmed in the Genesis cover story in the current MOJO magazine. According to this, he is currently working on further songs, that are connected to his last album. ‘It will be called o/i, i/o backwards,’ says Peter.
What is known about further songs
According to Gabriel, he had completed 17 or 18 songs for i/o. Further songs (five or six) were being worked on. He may also have developed new ideas since then.
The aforementioned What Lies Ahead should be set for o/i. There is also a song called Put The Bucket Down, which also appeared in licence databases during the i/o campaign. Radio Everyone and Rock Paper Scissors are also candidates for the new album. Peter had already rehearsed these two songs for the Rock Paper Scissors Tour in 2016. It remains unclear whether older songs such as The Veil or Why Don’t You Show Yourself will be re-recorded.
What is certain is that Manu Katché, Tony Levin and David Rhodes were recently in the studio with Peter for at least a week. Manu confirmed on his Instragam channel that he was there for ‘recordings’.
There is still no information about the i/o The Tour concert film.
