Anthony Phillips: "1984" is being released on vinyl

Somewhat surprisingly, two vinyl editions of Anthony Phillips' album 1984 are due to be released on 27 November.
Anthony Phillips' album 1984 was released in 1981 and was reissued 10 years ago as a 2CD/DVD set. The set includes bonus tracks and a surround mix (we reported). Two new vinyl versions have now been announced.
1984 is set to be released on 27 November in two vinyl editions. A 'clear vinyl' edition and a 'black & white' edition are planned. Both will be released on the Renaissance label and have been remastered specifically for this release.
The press release states: The release emphasises the atmospheric breadth of the compositions, from the striking introduction Prelude '84 to the extended sections of 1984 Part One and 1984 Part Two, and clearly showcases the sonic details of the synthesiser arrangements.
Musically, 1984 marked Ant's move towards more electronically-driven arrangements. The album is characterised by Polymoog and ARP sounds as well as programmed percussion. It is complemented by occasional guitar textures. Anthony Phillips is the composer and producer, and was supported by Richard Scott. Percussionist Morris Pert and others also contributed to the rhythmic details. The remastering process emphasises transparency and spatial depth, ensuring that the melodic lines and synthesiser pads are particularly clear to hear in this Clear Vinyl edition.
