Turn It On Again – A Genesis Forum

"Turn It On Again – A Genesis Forum" is the place for Genesis fans to connect with other fans outside social media. Come join us!

For a long time, Turn It On Again – A Genesis Forum has been the major home for Genesis fans outside social media. We gave this forum a new home in 2018 and it has been running on our website ever since.

10 April 2018: Turn It On Again – A Genesis Forum started on our website. We offered help after the old forum of the same name had to be closed as the service provider simply stopped. Sadly, the old content could not be saved but after nearly 8 years the forum has become a familiar home for regular visitors.

What is a forum and what is its purpose

A forum offers a platform for fans to interact and discuss different topics. Before Social Media arrived, forums were the only place in the online world to offer that. They basically replaces the mailing lists that came first.

In such a forum, there are sub-forums about different discussion areas. In our case, we have separate sub-forums for the individual solo activities, but also for collectors or live tours. And there also is a chance to discuss other music outside the Genesis world.

You can find the forum on our website by clicking on the community icon besides the menu. Or click here.

What do I have to do to join and participate?

Basically, you register by creating an account. You choose a username (nickname) and can also add an avatar or profile photo, offer some info about yourself if you want that and then your account is ready to go. You need to use a valid Email-address for this as you need to confirm it's really you who has registered! On top of that, an Admin will check your account and approve it. This is necessary to avoid SPAM-users joining the forum.

Register here and follow all instructions.

What is the difference between the forum and the dashboard

The forum overview lists the whole forum structure. You can also see in which threads the most recent posts happened. The dashboard is basically an overview about the latest posts, chronologically sorted. Sometimes it's easier to check updates via the dashboard.

How do I post / reply to an existing thread?

If you go to an existing thread after you have logged in to our forum (and your account has been successfully approved) – for example this one – you find the oldest post on top of the thread and below the replies. Such a thread can contain multiple pages, but at the bottom of each page you find an editor window. Write what you want to say and hit the "reply" button – done.

How do I create a new thread?

Go to a sub-forum – for example this one – and click "create thread". You need to be logged in to do that, of course. Give your thread a title (necessary) and then you have the same editor area. Once you're done, you can either preview your thread or submit your new thread.

Administrator and Moderator and their jobs

Forums have administrators and moderators who keep things running. That applies to both, technical issues and also interaction issues. Sometimes users do not "behave" or do not get along with each other well. Moderators then jump in. They also act on request, for example when you have posted something in the wrong section, and can then help you. If you feel you have to report a mistake or misbehavior, you can do that by clicking on the "report content" icon (a warning sign) in the relevant post.

The basic forum rules are binding to all users and can be found here.

You can always ask questions, also via a new thread in the forum. So, why not join and be part of the community?

We have a lively "Track of the Week" section you might want to explore first?

Also, there are "favorite albums" polls for Genesis, Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Anthony Phillips, Mike + The Mechanics and Ray Wilson, where you can pick your three favorite albums and discuss them with others.

And now – enjoy!
