From November to mid-December 1997 Genesis had scheduled the first leg of their North American tour. Slow ticket sales and technical problems caused that part of the tour to be postponed indefinitely first and cancelled completely later. The first show was therefore the Budapest show on 29/01/1998.
On 25 August 1997, Genesis presented their new album Calling All Stations to the European public at Alex in Berlin. The German Genesis Fan Club was there and also had the opportunity to speak with the two founding members of Genesis.
Since Phil Collins left Genesis in 1996, a lot of rumours were spread about the future of Genesis and a possible replcement. Even a comeback of Peter Gabriel was rumoured and names like Steve Hackett, Fish, Paul Carrack, Chester Thompson or Daryl Stuermer circulated, then Ray Wilson became the new singer.
The band had known it for three years, but it was made official only in March 1996: Phil Collins leaves Genesis to have more time to follow up his own projects. Read about the backgrounds here and also read the official statement.
