Genesis: "From Genesis To Revelation" out on 4CD/Blu-ray, 2CD and 2LP this October

The long-awaited box set for Genesis's first album, From Genesis to Revelation, is set to be released on October 9. We have the details.

It has been rumored for a while: Genesis's 1969 debut album From Genesis To Revelation is being honored as part of a large-scale new reissue series—with a deluxe box set featuring 4 CDs and a Blu-ray, a double-vinyl edition, and a newly remixed and remastered 2-CD edition, all of which have been reworked with the approval of the original band members Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips, and Mike Rutherford.

Originally released in March 1969, the album From Genesis To Revelation marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey—the first chapter in the history of a band that would later achieve immense success and enduring acclaim. These reissues offer the most comprehensive and insightful presentation of the album to date, shedding new light on this important early work from a fresh perspective and with unprecedented depth.

At the heart of all formats is a powerful new stereo mix by Stephen W. Tayler, created with a fresh focus on the band's performances and less emphasis on the orchestral elements that characterized the original release. The result is as revealing as it is captivating, lending the album new clarity and immediacy while preserving the spirit of these remarkable recordings. The double-vinyl edition also includes a bonus 12" EP featuring new mixes of A Winter's Tale, One Eyed Hound, Image Blown Out, and Visions Of Angels, the latter of which is previously unreleased.

The campaign centers on the luxurious 5-disc box set (4 CDs + Blu-ray), a comprehensively expanded edition that presents the album in various formats. In addition to the new stereo mix, the set includes newly remastered versions of the original mono and stereo LP mixes, associated singles, rare recordings, and a full CD of demos from 1967 and 1968—four of which are previously unreleased and have been remixed by Stephen W. Tayler.

The included Blu-ray offers 96 kHz / 24-bit Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound, and stereo mixes, giving listeners the opportunity to experience the album in breathtaking high-resolution sound quality.

The box set also includes exclusive video footage in which Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, and Mike Rutherford reflect on the album and discuss the new mixes during a conversation at AIR Studios in London. The package is rounded out by a 68-page, illustrated book featuring a detailed essay by Jon Dann, as well as contributions from Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips, and Mike Rutherford, who place the album in its historical and creative context.

Taken together, these reissues of From Genesis To Revelation shed new light on a fascinating and influential album—the sound of Genesis in its earliest days, now reissued with great care and sensitivity, in collaboration with the musicians who created it.
