John Hackett announces new album "Of Mountains And Fields"

Steve Hackett's brother John Hackett has announced the release of his new classical album Of Mountains And Fields

Following the John Hackett Band album Red Institution, John Hackett has now announced that a new solo album is due for release on 23 October.

Of Mountains And Fields was recorded using orchestral samples combined with John's solo flute. As John points out, no AI was used for this album! The album consists of two suites:

The War Suite is based on events of the First World War. Love, loss, battle and camaraderie, the suite follows a young man through it all as another face in the crowd of soldiers. It's a period that has always resonated with John because his great uncle Jack was at one point the oldest living British veteran of World War One.

The Cerqueto Suite was written as a thank you to the people of Cerqueto, a village up in the mountains in Abruzzo Italy that John first visited in 2018 with Marco Lo Muscio when they played at the start of their amazing 'Living Nativity'. John's wife Katrin and John himself have been invited back by Angelo and friends several times. John wanted to show his gratitude by writing this suite of pieces based on scenes around the village including the Gran Sasso mountain at dawn, the Church of Saint Reparata and the sheep fountain.

Of Mountains And Fields will be out on 23 October and is available on CD exclusively via John's Hacktrax shop. Since shipping outside the UK became difficult, (new customs regulations), it will only be available in physical format (CD) in the UK, and digital elsewhere (in this case via Bandcamp – details to be added later).
