Steve Hackett: "Genesis Revisited" album to be re-issued on vinyl

Steve Hackett's first Genesis Revisited album is being reissued on vinyl at the end of July.

In 1996, Steve Hackett surprised fans with the album Genesis Revisited, on which he reinterpreted a number of Genesis classics. The album was initially released in Japan, but was subsequently released in Europe (and in North America under the additional title Watcher Of The Skies) with a slightly different tracklist. We published a review of the original release in it magazine at the time. For some time now, this has been available on our website here.

In addition, we conducted an interview with Steve Hackett in October 1996 and he revealed some interesting insights. Check our the interview here.

InsideOut has now announced (just in time for the album's 30th anniversary in August) a reissue of the album on vinyl (double LP) for 31 July. The tracklist corresponds to the European version of the album:

Watcher Of The Skies
Dance On A Volcano
Valley Of The Kings
Deja Vu
Firth Of Fifth
For Absent Friends
Your Own Special Way
Fountain Of Salmacis
Waiting Room Only
I Know What I Like
Los Endos

In addition to a solo track (Valley Of The Kings), the album also features Deja Vu, a previously unfinished piece from the Selling England sessions. Genesis Revisited features Steve alongside Chester Thompson, Tony Levin, Bill Bruford, Ian McDonald, Paul Carrack and Alphonso Johnson, amongst others.

The album is due for release on 31 July 2026 as a 180g 2LP in a gatefold sleeve, including a booklet. It can be pre-ordered from JPC* or Burningshed. A limited-edition green version is available exclusively from the Steve Hackett Webshop.
