The Musical Box announce shows in the Netherlands and Germany 2027

Canadian Genesis tribute band The Musical Box have announced the first dates of a European tour leg 2027 in Germany and the Netherlands.

And Then There Was PHIL – the Canadian band The Musical Box are coming to Germany for eleven concerts in May and June, and three shows in the Netherlands. Fans across Europe have been waiting for some time for the announcement of further concerts. That's because The Musical Box have a new show, which is currently thrilling audiences in North America.

The tour kicked off in the UK this summer. Now the time has come – the band is returning to Europe in 2027.

In 1978, Genesis embarked on their final tour featuring a technical stage show created and constructed entirely by themselves – the now legendary "Mirror Show" with six gigantic mirrors that could move in all directions.

For three decades, the Canadian band The Musical Box has authentically reconstructed and re-enacted, down to the very last detail, the historic stage theatre of Genesis featuring Peter Gabriel. With their new production And Then There Was PHIL, they are now focusing on the early years (1976–1980) of Phil Collins as the new frontman of Genesis and the beginning of the band's rise to become one of the world's most successful rock bands.

Performed on the original instruments with their usual uncompromising perfection and featuring all the legendary drum duets from the live shows of that era, this spectacular new production is based primarily on the technology of the 'Mirror Show' from 1978, for which the six large mirror elements – freely movable via servo motors – were technically reconstructed and replicated on a 1:1 scale in collaboration with the original designer, Theo Botschiver. Together with the original Genesis laser effects from the 1970s, this recreates the monumental light show – one that could never be achieved in this form using modern Vari-Lites – once again after half a century.

The Musical Box deliberately focus exclusively in And Then There Was PHIL on the then-new frontman Phil Collins, who was soon to become an international solo star. Consequently, the older tracks by Peter Gabriel, adapted by Phil Collins, are largely omitted by design; instead, the most important and powerful new songs from the previous tours of A Trick Of The Tail and Wind & Wuthering are added to the 1978 stage design – and, last but not least, a longer sequence from the Duke tour of 1980, which was triumphantly celebrated by audiences across the country at the UK premiere of And Then There Was PHIL in 2026.

Technically, this is arguably the most demanding production by The Musical Box, even more complex than their Peter Gabriel-authorised revival of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway; in 2027, And Then There Was PHIL will present the musical and visual quality of Genesis featuring Phil Collins during their years of reinvention to an astonished audience across Europe with more than impressive perfection.
