Apologies for the late review. The show far exceeded my expectations. His voice was impeccable. The setlist was very good. The show just flowed wonderfully. I’m so happy that I went. If any of you are debating whether or not to go to this show, you should go. You won’t be disappointed. Here’s a few pics.

So here I am at the Bell Centre. When tickets went on sale I balked at the prices and said there was no way I was paying that much for a concert. Well today I picked up a lower bowl ticket on Tik Pik for $52. So I sit here 20 minutes before the show in anticipation. I haven’t heard a single track from I/O yet. Life gets in the way sometimes. I guess I’m in for some surprises tonight. I have no idea what the setlist is but I’m pretty confident that I’ll be hearing Solsbury Hill at some point. 😂 I’ll post a review and some pics tomorrow.

I gave it a 14. One of my favourites. I never understood why it wasn’t played live more. But then again as Genesis fans we’ve become accustomed to scratching our heads a lot.

I gave it 13. Mostly because it was a pleasant surprise on the IT album. I remember feeling at the time that no matter how much commercial success they were having, they still had prog in their blood.

I hate April fools!
I’m such a sucker for pranks. 😂 -
I’m surprised to hear about the licensing. It’s unfortunate. The Lamb show is one I would go see again. Really glad I caught it last year.

I gave it 7. There are some parts that are really good and other parts that make you wish it was over already.

10 from me. It’s good but definitely not great. At the time I enjoyed hearing Genesis on the pop stations.

I think I’ll wait for the reviews from our European members before deciding on whether or not to go. I’m really 50/50 on this one. I only saw him once in 2010 when he toured with the orchestra. To say I was underwhelmed is an understatement. Either way it will be a last minute decision. Single tickets at a reduced price usually pop up in the last days before the show.

Maybe the 40 page booklet makes this box set worthwhile. Or am I getting my hopes up needlessly?

Fantastic review as usual Christian. Like many of you I’m left with mixed feelings and undecided whether or not to add this box set to my collection. The lack of attention to detail and accuracy is very Un-Genesis like. Makes me wonder is this isn’t just an easy cash grab, rather than be a gem for diehard Genesis fans. Not what I was expecting at all.

It’s a good song. I’m also not a big Phil Solo fan but this song is part of the handful of his solo songs that I really like. 12 points.

Happy Holidays to all. Health, happiness, and prosperity for 2023. Cheers 🥂
-
0 points for me. Without analyzing and dissecting it, I’ll just say that I don’t like it. The other 2 tracks on the EP are much better IMHO.

I watched it until the end. I clearly have too much time on my hands.

15 points. It’s a masterpiece.

If you want to discover Steve’s solo work, start with
Voyage of the acolytePlease don’t touch
Spectral mornings
if you like more old style Prog gems
or try
Guitar noirTo watch the storms
Beyond the shrouded horizon
if you look for the more recent stuff.
the last three albums were my eye openers !Thanks Westside. I’ll certainly have some time during the holidays so I’ll be sure to follow your recommendations and give those songs a listen.

Sorry for the delay. It’s been a busy couple of days. The show was phenomenal. The solo set was really good. As I said before I’m not familiar with any of his solo work so I didn’t know what to expect. It definitely had a Genesis flavour to it. It was almost like having an opening act. The Seconds Out set really blew me away. Here are the songs that stood out for me. I really like Sqounk and haven’t heard it played live very often except as a part of Los Endos. They played it to perfection and it really set the tone for the show. Robbery Assault and Battery is another song that I only heard live once played by The Musical Box, so this was another rare treat. Steve’s guitar playing on this song was off the charts. The upbeat jazzy version of I Know What I Like was fantastic, complete with sax solo instead of tambourine. I loved it. Of course the highlight of the night was Suppers Ready. Another song rarely played live. I had only heard it live once by Genesis and a couple of times by The Musical Box. They played it to perfection. That song never gets old and it’s the fastest 23 minutes of my life. lol Overall I’m so glad that I got a ticket to this show. Even though I was sitting in the balcony the sound was great and the atmosphere was electric. The guys really played their hearts out and Steve was in top form. He can still play guitar with the best of them. If anyone has a chance to see them I highly recommend that you go. I’ll post some pics in my next posts. Cheers!
