Replied to the thread TotW 03/18/2024 - 03/24/2024: ANTHONY PHILLIPS & HARRY WILLIAMSON - The Anthem From Tarka.PostIn isolation, I can understand why this track isn't scoring particularly well. But as part of the whole album/project, I think it stands up very well indeed. Beautiful melody and a first class arrangement.
It's a 12 from me. -

Replied to the thread Peter Gabriel - „i/o“ deluxe boxset.PostThe days seem to have gone when actual extra music was part of a box set. Now it seems to be extra formats. -

Reacted with to BillysNumber’s post in the thread Which CD remastering was the best for each album?.Reaction (Post)I would say I prefer the Boxset remixes. I think they sound great in 5.1 Surround sound, but I acknowledge lots of people may not care about such setups. The CD versions of these do sound a bit...loud, but IMO any compression issues only really exist… -

Replied to the thread Genesis - "Calling All Stations" album presentation in Berlin 1997.PostI totally agree that a second album would almost certainly have been an improvement.
I also really (really!) wish Mike and Tony had chosen to re-record all of the songs on Calling All Stations once they had hired all of the musicians that played on the… -

Reacted with to Micklemus’s post in the thread Genesis - "Calling All Stations" album presentation in Berlin 1997.Reaction (Post)What might have been. I still look at that brief period and think "right voice, wrong material" and a second album with better writing and a stronger influence from Ray (and others if really brave) could have been special. Rather like Marillion needed… -

i/o Deluxe Boxset
A more extensive box set is to be released in spring 2024, which will contain the 2CD, the Blu-ray and the two vinyl sets. Additionally comes a casebound book with expanded liner notes and a poster. -

Replied to the thread Peter Gabriel - „i/o“ deluxe boxset.PostHas there been any specific info regarding what will be included in the boxset, song-wise? Any live material, or perhaps unreleased songs?
I would hope any as-of-yet unreleased songs would not be exclusive to the boxset-cos I can't really afford to spend… -

Replied to the thread TotW 03/18/2024 - 03/24/2024: ANTHONY PHILLIPS & HARRY WILLIAMSON - The Anthem From Tarka.PostI like it but it is by any means the weakest track on the Tarka album. The real orchestra works are much more interesting. -

Replied to the thread Dance Into the Light - the story of the album recordings.PostThat's awesome. Looks like the same house he used in The Big Band documentary which would make sense because I think it came out in '96 as well.
Did Phil do an EPK for Dance Into The Light like he did for Both Sides and Testify (the 30 minute documentary)? -

Precisely this. They had a good foundation to build on. The thought that both Ray and Tony wanted to do a second album but Mike didn't is never far from my mind. What might have been if he'd said yes. -

Replied to the thread TotW 03/18/2024 - 03/24/2024: ANTHONY PHILLIPS & HARRY WILLIAMSON - The Anthem From Tarka.PostSimilar here. You can tell he understands classical music and how to arrange it, but the track is let down by the writing. It's not far off being one loop repeated with increasing intensity for 6 minutes. Perhaps fine if a snippet is taken to score a… -
