Dodo, Abacab and Man on the Corner, which I like a lot! Pity they did not play this live on later tours.

time is a relentless and unforgiving.
True
Speaking of time, Peter will be 74 years old this year and obviously has learned how valuable time is (as he admitted he had health problems as well), so I would not be surprised if he rather spent time with family and friends instead of going on tour again - but of course I'd like to see him again as well!

That's a 15 from me! Stunning track, it seems rather simple, but unfolds an amazing atmosphere

One of their finest ever. Still enjoy this a lot when Steve plays this live!
Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed Steve's performance of this song with Gary on lead vocals. Gary's voice, I thought, had a John Wetton-ish quality to it, which I was totally fine with.
agreed!

I sense quite a negative vibe here in this thread. Why not wait until we hear the complete album?

That is an amazing spread of votes so far. Have there been any other songs as divisive as this? I feel like there's usually broad consensus with one or two voting a little above or below the average. This has 3 votes for 15 and 2 votes for 2!
It's not the most popular prog piece, isn't it? No wonder we see this spread of votes. It's also on an album where you find tracks like Firth Of Fifth and Cinema Show, which are simply out of this world. Maybe another reason why The Battle is less popular?

This is not my favorite Peter Gabriel album, but "I Grieve", "Darkness" and "Signal To Noise" stand out!
I was disappointed first that Peter decided to have "I Grieve" on the record, but this version justifies that, although there were no radical changes compared to the "City Of Angels" soundtrack version.

Steve must have recorded a lot more guitar parts than we actually hear. At least that's what he said in interviews a while ago. But, as stated elsewhere, it was more a Trevor Horn project. And looking back, it probably wasn't a bad idea. I know fans are rather critical here, but for a one-off, it was okay.

Not sure if those (very valid) aspects are still relevant in 2023, especially for i/o. Each of the four sides is not too long. Having said that, the album contains 12 tracks, which I think didn't happen before (with the exception of "Scratch My Back", but that was another story).
The running order of tracks is always an issue (and I think the musicians spend a lot of time deciding that). For me, it was a surprise that Peter took the Full Moon release running order in the end (except for vinyl), but it's I think the best decision to open with "Panopticom" and close with "Live And let Live".

45 Minutes is not a lot for a Hackett album, but I'd say that's a good sign! Lookin forward to this album (with lower expectations than several years back) and I simply do hope it will be better than the cover image

Hey
new here - been reading a lot and usually don't write a lot, but thought it might be interesting to discuss things every now and then. I am a "Hacketeer" but also do like other solo stuff, mainly Peter's.
As for the Hackett albums, it's Voyage and Please Don't Touch from the early phase, then Darktown, To Watch The Storms and ... of course, Beyond The Shrouded Horizon.
Other good ones are Spectral Mornings, Guitar Noir, Parts of Wild Orchids and the first Genesis Revisited album.
Not a fan of most of the recent albums, although I do like Surrender of Silence a bit.
cheers
B.
