That smaller venue is actually still there, just with a different name: "Hulu Theater At Madison Square Garden".
No doubt it’s still there. I think after the Felt Forum it was the Paramount Theater.
Maybe there was another name change in there somewhere else and I have no doubt knowing Jim Dolan (the MSG and teams ass owner) the naming of it changes with who’ll pay the most for naming rights.

I wish was able to get there for this as I was there the first time they played the “big” arena.
There used to be a smaller venue inside MSG downstairs called the Felt Forum where they had played before but it wasn’t until the W&W tour in 77 they actually played what Phil called that night the “big room”.
I was fortunate to be there that night and on a few other tours as well but just can’t make it this time unfortunately.

It’s pretty standard practice. Bruce Springsteen is pretty good at making it seem spontaneous, even though it is part of the plan each show.
yup and I think it started or at least became standard for him when a few years ago he said something like good to see you Cleveland and they were in Detroit or vice versa,. I forget the cities but he definitely said the wrong one.
I’m sure he knew what city he was in but just misspoke and took steps to make sure it didn’t happen again.

Since when was live rock and roll ever perfect? Give me some talented musicians live on stage without a net, warts and all every time over a band trying to be album perfect.
To me that’s what a rock and roll live show is. It’s spontaneous, it’s living and breathing right there in front of me. There’s nothing in music like a band on stage rocking and giving it their all.
Sure, sometimes it’s tighter than others but it’s also pretty cool too seeing great performers playing in the moment and going off script when needed. Dealing live with whatever comes up. To me that’s the kind of thing that makes each show unique. Even if a set list doesn’t change from one show to the next.
Maybe he is just an ass.

Haha, I totally get where you’re coming from. I saw several shows in 2007 and to this day whenever I hear Hold On My Heart, I have to pee.
Having said that, a few bands I like to see live vary their set lists quite a bit, and they also have songs I’ll use for a drink/toilet run. It’s just a matter of when they’re played.

I didn't mind knowing the setlist prior to going to my first show in 2007. I bought one of the Encore discs from the European leg so I could hear the show in the lead up to seeing them for myself.
I understand the reasoning behind wanting the concert to have some surprises, but where Genesis is concerned I'm way too much of a newshound to even try to avoid spoilers.
Same here. In fact I wanted to see several shows again but with the prices of the tix in 07, if it was going to be MTV days Genesis, I would only do one.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a great range in their 07 set list, and getting plenty of old classics, I had no problem forking over some dough for a few shows. In fact, I regretted not doing more than the four I did.
This time around, the same holds true. I’m definitely doing one show but if the set list covers all the eras again, I’m planning on doing at least two and probably three shows.

I remember there were a lot of fans in 2007 who brought their children to the shows was great to see how many generations attended the shows!

I brought my daughter to two of the Philadelphia shows and she loved them. Granted she was a young woman of 22 by then but she was raised with Genesis music and finally got to see them live.
We’ve enjoyed a lot of great concerts over the years but those two were real special, and ones neither of us will ever forget.
Grabbed a ticket to the Raleigh NC show this morning and hoping the show actually goes on. I know it’s early but there’s a LOT of tix unsold.
Ended up getting a better seat to the show, flight and room all for cheaper than what I would’ve spent for the same in Charlotte, even with taking Friday off work.

Loads of information is being suppressed. I have never seen such blatant censorship of information. Regular people's negative reactions to the vaccine have been deleted from social media. Reporters are being told not to report certain information and are starting to come out. Social media platforms are suppressing vaccine hesitancy posts. We have whistleblowers coming out from different places letting us know about these things. I could go on and on...
My "possibly led to more deaths" comment is said because I believe it did lead to more deaths, but given the fluid nature of how we report stats anymore during this pandemic we can't even really be sure of anything statistically. But the idea that the politicalization of the issue could have possibly led to less deaths as I think you are implying is unlikely no matter what you believe.

ok. but this may also change until Genesis will be in the states. The UK / Ireland tour is earlier. I want to go to Glasgow. I hope this is possible then - I mean to travel etc. I am fully vaccinated, so that won't be a problem (for me).

As far as I know not all States have this same requirement though.
Besides a discussion about politics, we are all curious and waiting for the rules that apply to the upcoming gigs and that’s the time when we will have facts. In Europe, the Most likely way will be a vaccination proof or a negative test to access the concert.
It might’ve been posted in another thread but Madison Square Garden in NYC is going to have their first full house concert in the next week or so with the Foo Fighters. Proof of vaccination is the only way to be allowed in.
It seems to me to be quite simple- if horrific. The virus is real. The only real way out is by vaccination. Vaccinations require most people to have them to work. I count my blessings I live in a country where I can get hold of a vaccine and I am the envy of my friends and acquaintances in countries where vaccines are a distant hope. Anything else is secondary for now and whilst I am sure politics will be being played along the way, and freedoms curtailed, possible unnecessarily at times, that can wait until we are all (across the globe) as safe as we can be

I would say the politicalization of the issue has led possibly to more deaths. There have been treatments banned, alternative views and information suppressed, all in the name of making this thing into more of a nightmarish scenario than it should be in reality. I know many folks don't believe this because it isn't "mainstream" thinking, but when freedoms are being quickly eroded it makes me think about the reasons why and what impact will this have on our future, both for us and future generations. And for the record, I am not a pro-Trump person.

Very cool and aside from an old classic like Squonk, I’d love to see that open the shows.

Belmont was a questionable place to me. It’s right outside NYC and while a brand new venue, it’s kind of flooding that market IMO.
It reminds me of in 07 when they did 3 in Philly, a show in Hartford , DC, MSG and Boston, (all within driving distance of each other ) and all pretty much sold out but the outdoor stadium show at Giants Stadium, only a few miles outside NYC didn’t come close to selling out. Even though it was the only US outdoor show with the full big rig stage setup.
I don’t remember how well the west coast shows sold in 07, but they did make a few stops out there, so I’m sure they must’ve sold well. I’d bet they’ll be a good demand for them if they add shows there in 22.
Yes, it is in Elmont. I believe the reason it’s listed as Belmont Park is it’s pretty much on the grounds/adjacent to Belmont Park Race Track, the place where they run the 3rd leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown.
Belmont Park is what is most familiar to people when referring to the town/city, and I’m honestly not sure where the “B” actually originated from, but Elmont itself is just a small little town. Really only known for the most part because of the Horse Track.
When people hear Belmont, they know exactly the area being talked about. Elmont? Not so much.
I think the fact they are adding shows speaks to a demand out there. I'm sure there will be more the following year if they stay relatively healthy.
