I see what you mean. I have just come home from a cataract operation. But every time, I start moaning about my age and the physical reduction it brings, I think of Keith Richards, who is still there and on stage in spite of all the substances he used all his life. It is all rock and roll, you know.

I highly recommend The Road. An album full of great tracks. The new guys contributed a lot to make the Mechanics sound younger and fresher. For me it is their greatest release since The Living Years (my personal favourite). I must confess,that I had already been a fan of Roachford before he joined the band. The Road reconciled me with the band, as I had given up on them after Word of Mouth, which I think is really bad. Never been a great fan of Beggars either.

Boys and Girls has some great tracks on it (slave to love, the chosen one, valentine are my faves)
the chosen one has an incredible rhythm pattern. Almost worth the whole album alone...

I share your feelings to some extend, but I must confess, that I already feel quite at home on here. The new forum format offers a lot more options to communicate and it all displays really well. I hope, that the usual suspects from the old forum will all show up here plus plenty of newbies.

His Dark Materials is sort of an antithesis to Narnia. So you might enjoy these books.

I've started re-reading the His Dark Materials series. I've not read Brett or Donaldson, but I really should. I do need to branch out while I wait for the next Patrick Rothfuss
I am waiting for this one, too. The story of Kvothe is one of the finest works of fantasy, I have ever read. Although it is hard to wait for the sequel, you know, that it is well worth it....
