Yeah, I'm glad to see these back in print, but I'm only going to re-buy for some kind of sonic change, not just packaging.
We have everything anyway. And I doubt Concord will go beyond rereleasing any stuff that's already available Would be a great benefit to see the 5.1 mixes rereleased on Blu-ray audio.
And of course When In Rome on Blu-ray ....
WinstonWolf - nice avatar, by the way
I agree with this review. I was a bit skeptical but i/o turned out to be a great record!
A hymn for peace - melodic, positive, wonderful!
This album is a bit like Joshua Tree (U2). Some wonderful tracks and then avergage songs, 50/50. For this reason, it can never be my favorite M&M album, despite Nobody's Perfect and The Living Years.
ambitious .... erm ... cover artwork
13 tracks in 45 minutes is something I did not expect
7 points.
Pretty average track for me, actually. The album in general does not contain too many good tracks so I don't listen to it that often.
I am surpised not many voted for Washing Of The Water so far. Maybe the later "Jools Holland" version is better?
Darkness stands out.
I Grieve is my personal number one on UP
Signal To Noise is a Gabriel classic.
That was easy
I probably need A LOT of time to dig into this one. Pretty amazing composition obviously, but far from being accessible ...
i think the vocals are very annoying in this new song,
i'm not moved at all by his voice which is strange...
Probably my least favorite one with the title track.
Funny, I thought his vocals are pretty interesting on this one (and also the title track is a good one as well)
Indeed nice to see them together again. Chester was on tour (with Unitopia) recently, wasn't he? I read somewhere he's been pretty sick but it looks like he's doing pretty well now.
I wonder if they talked about doing something together again?
I hope he will do more shows in 2024.
If not, I am very happy I did see this tour. It was special in may ways and if it was his last, it also was a nice way to say goodbye.
This is not my favorite period, but thanks again for the detailed work.
The top 3 is not really a surprise for this album
Well, let's see
1. When did you buy Selling England By The Pound (or have received it as a gift)?
In the later 80s, can't really recall
2. How old were you when Selling England was released?
1
3. Was Selling England your first Genesis album? If not, how many Genesis albums did you own before getting Selling??
I believe I had Invisible touch and Duke before
4. If you had to rank all Genesis albums, where does Selling England stand?
Top 3, it varies a bit
5. Which track was your favourite when you bought the album?
I know what I like
6. Which track is your favourite today?
Cinema show
7. Which track do you think is the best track on the record despite your own taste?
Firth of fifth
8. How many versions of the album have you bought / owned? (Vinyl, CD, Remaster, Cassette, SACD etc)
Vinyl, CD Remaster and SACD/DVD
to be honest I was hoping for more stuff beside the i/o releases. He must have tons of versions, demos etc. Hoping that will come after the i/o release.
I am happy about the LCH Post Band version. It's a nice addition to the standard mixes.
Peter also said in his full moon video this month that he intends to keep doing this "next time around", whatever this means.
That's a nice track and it captures the mood of the live version nicely. I need to listen to this more often!
As to whether they're songs nobody knows, I think that depends on the perspective of when people attend the concerts.
For example: for someone who saw the show in April, I could imagine the setlist would be somewhat daunting-since almost half of the setlist are songs that no one has ever heard before! I know for myself at least, I would hate to attend a concert of one of my favorite artists-and almost half of the songs are completely unfamiliar to me!
For someone seeing the concert in later months (like myself, in October) I imagine it'll be a very different experience. By the time I go in three weeks, I will already know and have enjoyed all of the songs except for two! So for me, I'll be going to a concert where I actually know almost all of the songs. And it's all just because of which month I'm going.
Saw the show in Europe and I cannot agree to what you wrote. I enjoyed every minute, though I didn't not know half of the new tracks. It was quite an experience!
Really? .... I'll pass this time.
