Very sorry you are going through this, but remember, where there is life, there IS hope. Hoping for a good outcome for you.

He is generally brilliant, a great actor who can be very funny but I've also seen him in quite menacing roles.
Remember Perfect World? A short-lived but very watchable series.
I haven't seen Zapped.
Afraid Perfect World passed me by, will have to try and track it down.

Sometime after tonight at 10pm, having recorded it off Dave, Zapped! Mainly for the outstanding work of Paul Kaye!

I did dabble with the Meaning of Liff, it struck me as a desperate attempt to follow the brilliance of HHGTTG when he had writers block.

ATO and Battle are high spots for me, certainly compared to IKWIL and MFM.

I remember a local record shop, which I walked past daily on the way home from school, having a huge poster of the cover in the window.

At the beginning of the nineties, I was a regular viewer of mtv. At that time, there was no internet and you seldom had the chance to see the artists you liked on tv. I enjoyed the music videos a lot. There are songs, where the video comes to my mind instantly, when I listen to them. Sledge Hammer by PG, Take On Me by A-Ha and Cry by Godley & Creme, etc.
A well made video can make a great song even more enjoyable. On the other hand, the best made video cannot lift a song, that is crap.
I agree, and a-Ha's is one I'd have quoted too. As for Godley and Crème, an Englishman in New York would be an example I'd use. Rio by Mike Nesmith another. As for "can it add anything to the song" well, Alphaville's Jet Set has a line "We love them like we love decay" (A reference to the Russians) but add a twist that, if memory serves, the lyric sheet, unseen by most listeners to the song, includes, by holding up a photo of D(anny) Kaye!

Songwriter - Justin Hayward, to celebrate this, his 72nd birthday!

Great track, one of the best on the album, interesting intro and nice link out to Guide Vocal, another great one.

This, and Time Honoured Ghosts, however, are examples of BJH's inconsistency. They could make great albums (Once Again, Ring of Changes, Welcome to the Show) but they could turn out so-so efforts like these 2, and real turkeys like Victims of Circumstances and River of Dreams. May day is an ok song ruined by the ending. Suicide, however, is a gem, and I assume you know the closing section was recorded binaurally, meaning it should be listened to on headphones. The bit where he kicks open the elevator motor room door and the dog barks in the distance actually made me look round first time I played it on phones.

Great album, and they look so happy there. Sad to see how it all turned out in the end.

Under the Iron Sea - Keane, preceeded by Al Stewart's Russians and Americans, one of his 3 finest!

Although I share the view that The Mechanics' stuff tends to shift towards blandness sometimes, Beggar was a fine album, perhaps my second favorite after Smallcreep's day. This song in particular though doesn't too much for me, it's just OK. A 9 perhaps.
I tend to agree re 2nd to Smallcreep, but this song is a good one, strong lyrically.

Is anyone here going to the Manchester show (26 Nov 2019)?
Wahaay! You finally made it on board.
But to answer your question, no, not me, sorry!

Back to the Light - Brian May. A bit of a Curate's Egg!

Thanks for the offer. However, I've had a digital copy for years (along with many other odds and ends by various artists that were never released digitally). I just find it odd that Steve never gave it a proper digital release himself.
I agree. Surely it could have been a bonus track by now, or put on the upcoming box set.

Would that have been possible and/or necessary?
Hmm, so is that how all those voices on "In Memoriam" were done?
Given the credits on "In Memoriam" (Choir Modelled by Roger King) I'm guessing so, yes. Samples, fiddled with in the studio, not in real time, and assembled as required. Necessary? If you want that sound, without hiring an choir, yes.

On Corycian Fire, I'm guessing it's done with computer generated voices.
