I have a bid for FGTR currently on ebay.
1973 according to Discogs.
Thank you about the cassette colour information.
No, it didn't come out until July 1974.

I went the Amazon route thinking it would arrive sooner with domestic shipping.
When I ordered, the indication was it would be shipped on the date of release but then I received an email on Friday pushing that shipping date to mid February.
Oh well. Good things come to those who wait.
To which Amazon territory are you referring? The UK arm dispatched theirs last Thursday.

I do have that Mark Jones book so I have been reading up about this.
My problem is trying to work out what the cassettes looked like in 1972.
Phil Morris has kindly photographed two different cassette labels. Which one was published first? Which one appeared later on.
I do not know.
My gut feeling tells me the cassette on the left appeared first
The one on the right appeared later on when everything was reissued with the release of a subsequent album. Perhaps Selling England. From a rarity point of view the earlier cassette should be worth more. Genesis were not selling massively in mid 1972. They were a year later.
I do have both cassettes. Forever on the search for early Genesis cassettes
They were purposely placed in that order for the photo. And I think the pink scroll edition answers your question about which came first.
Do you have an original UK FGTR cassette? I presume you know when that was released.

It's a great album, based on the two listens I've had so far, but could it really not have fitted on a single slab of vinyl? I've not played mine yet to see what the pressing is like, but with advances in the cutting process (see all the longer Genesis album reissues), surely it would not have suffered. After all, there's not much bottom end. And it's not as if the etching on side 4 was worth it...

I have no idea how and why this was recorded - but this should have been on "Plays well with others"!!!
As I'm sure you're aware, there's a *lot* more left out. One of the issues could be to do with copyright holders or other rights. Plus there are things like uncredited appearances, such as his drumming on the Neil Innes single.

Released in 2 days, just hope Royal Mail delivers it on time for once
I ordered the blue vinyl version, not sure why as it cost £5 more than the black version
Burning Shed in the UK started shipping pre-orders yesterday. Has the Hackett site done so yet?
I opted for the rarer unsigned black vinyl edition.

The bonus disc in the new MLs box is another really great one. I paid under £20 for the set, which combined with another fine booklet, made this well worth getting, despite having the previous editions of the main content. (I add a tipped hat in Mr Dann's direction.)
