That's cringe imo. Sounds like a ringtone
I mean, I get it, but I've heard it that many times in my life that it's latched on to my brain and I don't mind hearing it again. It's no 'Ecstasy of Gold' though

Still haven't had time to write up my notes yet, but I wanted to add that Fading Lights was a lot better in this context. When Tony first wrote the lyrics it didn't really seem to fit, but given all the stuff that's happened since then and their own aging, I can believe it now. Especially when Phil sings it.
Their names on spotify seem to be a composite of the two. e.g. 'Peter Gabriel 4: Security'
I was convinced at the time that No Son of Mine wasn't pitched down. I could be wrong though. Maybe it's just that it's not as low as 2007.
I recognised So as a necessary change of direction, even including (shock horror!) an actual TITLE.
I know this is a tangent, but I wonder how you felt when you heard that in the US they'd named Peter Gabriel 4 'Security'? And that at some point it became the official name for it. XD
There was at least one song with high notes that was performed at the original key. So yeah, it looks like he could hit those notes, if he was doing a one-off.
Maybe he should be kicked in the nad-s?
Sorry.
You're right Methos. But like many older fans, it's a last chance at seeing band that we've followed through our teens, '20s, '30s, '40s, '50s .... you get the point. I was in a Genesis tribute band for many years so I definitely can empathize with flubs (I was thrilled if I had 2 or less per 2.5 hour show). Unfortunately, YouTube and social media tend to show every wart whereas in the moment, those things are more forgivable.
I completely get that.
I'm just glad I got the chance to see them at all
I get that ranked choice may not change the top three, but I do think it would help to place the rest. I think some of the lower ranked ones may find themselves climbing a bit higher. There are albums that everyone likes, but few would choose as a favourite, and they get their due when ranked choice is used.
In the end, it's all opinions
I use lyrics. Some of us have really bad memories for words when performing. We could sing it in the shower with no issues, 100% correctly and then you put us on stage and the brain just... clams up, lol.
Thanks. Man, these songs are unrecognizable transposed so low. I remember thinking the same thing in '07 with Ripples and other songs but this seems much worse. Duchess also lost a lot of its punch in a lower key. I realize that this is the current reality. Also noticed quite a few flubs in some of the posted videos (e.g. Banks was off tempo pretty badly in Cinema Show last night). Hopefully, opening tour jitters.
I think certain songs sound better in the lower key. Heck, I actually preferred Ripples at the 2007 Key. (Sacrilige I know)
On Monday night it was much quicker than I expected. I was a bit miffed that we had to go through a metal detector to get in - the security guy asked me to hand over my phone so it didn't set it off. Only later I realised that he'd probably held hundreds of other peoples phones during the course of the evening - not exactly an ideal situation for a supposed 'covid secure' venue.
I thought that they were wearing plastic disposable gloves. But I do get your point. The person who did the metal detector test on Tuesday didn't really touch my stuff. I think it was because I did it within arms reach.
Unfortunately, it will be the same setlist until the end of the tour…
So sad for Abacab, Jesus and some others.
It is, in the end, what it is. To be honest, I thought the whole show flowed pretty well, aside from part 1 of Domino being about a semi-tone too low.
Edit: Actually, I think the lack of any song from Trick was a bit weird. Los Endos or Ripples would've worked fine.
Christian, though the responders to your poll are certainly not "representative" show goers necessarily, it's nonetheless interesting to see how disconnected preferences (the top 4 albums are '70s stuff) are to the actual current setlist. Maybe we can send your poll results to Phil, Mike and Tony lol (yes, that's a joke). Thanks for doing this.
I mean, there's a reasonable amount of stuff there. And 'favourite' doesn't really capture a range value. Some people love all the albums almost equally and others only like certain ones. I think a ranked choice vote would probably be the best way to see, but you can't do that on this forum software.
More generally, I was hoping to see more love for the Self-Titled album, as it was one of my picks (along with Trick and Duke).
The Covid Marshall said to us that they were there to count on a counter how many people had provided their covid passes etc. but there wasn't any way that they could stop people without one from entering so people didn't need to worry.
I definitely showed them mine, because I went to the effort of printing the darn thing off.
Caveat: This is specifically my experiences from the second birmingham show, and other venues may be stricter! It's safer to bring the covid pass than not!
I've been now and confirm it was the same for me.
Apparrently this is partly due to the venue being in a residential area and thus they have a curfew. I don't know if any arenas that are allowed to stay open later will get a few extra songs. (though I doubt it. It's pretty much a solid 2hrs 15 mins of songs)
I am gonna give setlist now, as I was at the gig. My report will come tomorrow, because my legs feel like they're going to pop out of my sockets.

And yes, it was very good. Worth the money.
Pity about Jesus He Knows Me, would like to hear that.
Probably hits too close to home nowadays, given that the situation is a lot worse!
Thank you everyone who's posted, especially those who said about Mike not wanting to go beyond 2 hours. I guess he wants to go to bed at a reasonable time!
So, I checked my tickets for the Birming Arena 21/09/2020 show just now, and I realised something. I'm pretty certain the start time was 19:30, but it's now 20:00 prompt. It's made me a bit nervous as, given the last train out of Birmingham to my town is 11:03, if it lasts longer than 2hours 25 mins, I'm gonna have to leave early in order to catch it.
Anyone else noticed the start times changing? or did I mess up and it was always 8pm? Also, roughly how long do you think the show will be?
