It was fantastic. The first half a mixture of Steve's own classics - Ace of Wands as opener, wow! - and some amazing new stuff I wasn't familiar with yet. Also a stunning bass solo. The second half the entire Foxtrot, brilliant from first note to last. What an incredible band this is. And the encores, breathtaking everything.

Alas, even professionals of this high league can mess up badly, you wouldn't believe. When Steve introduced the band, he announced the saxophonist (what's his name?) has his birthday. The whole audience sings Happy Birthday together with the band, a roadie brings in a birthday cake with real candles. The birthday boy takes the cake, blows out the candles, thanks everybody. Then he looks around for someone to hold the cake - woops, within a split of a second, he dropped the precious cake! A sorry "awww" goes through the audience. Roger King, the keyboardist, walks towards the mess sticking on the floor, with a poker face he dips his fingers into the ruins of the cake and licks them off. James Bond couldn't have been cooler.

Rob Townsend is his name. Great story :D

It’s a beautiful track. I was initially surprised at just how understated the production is — the orchestra, for example, is barely audible, putting Peter’s vocal very much front and centre. I guess that was the idea though. It’s sad to hear that Peter has had health issues as well (I knew his wife had). This has obviously fed into So Much, along with Playing For Time and Love Can Heal. They’re very personal tracks. I’m guessing that as Tchad Blake stated this is the best thing Peter has done, the Dark-Side Mix is likely to be the one that makes it onto the i/o album.

Peter publically revealed his health issues at the concert in Frankfurt, where three top doctors / scientists were present who helped him when he was "seriously ill".

We invite you to share interesting facts and tidbits about this track. Let's look at the track in the context of the band's / the artist's history, at the music, the songwriting and all other aspects that are relevant for this track. Please do stick to the discussion of the track above. Comparisons to other tracks are okay, but remember that the other track you may be keen to talk about has or will have its own Track Of The Week thread. If you spot a mistake or if you can close a gap in the fact sheet above please feel free to contact martinus or Christian about it; we will gladly add and improve!

    Notes:
There Are Many Sides To The Night is one of the central pieces of his 1993 "comeback" album Guitar Noir. The song received surprising attention a little later, as the basic musical theme appeared in the TUI advertisement (and was later even released as a maxi CD under the title Timeless).

This is the full moon video

Once the European part of the tour is over, it's all guesswork. Personally I would like him to come to Spain in the spring of 2024, but with Peter you never know....

What we do know is that in the next two months there will be three more I/O songs; that is to say, we will be entertained.

I would like to film a concert on the North American tour, and introduce some variation in the set... for example GAMES WITHOUT FRONTIERS, SAN JACINTO or MERCY STREET.

why should be play those tracks and which ones would he drop for them? I find this unlikely.

We will have full moon releases until December or even longer. Not only until august.

Except that, as you touch upon, he's now 73. I guess much depends on how much of a toll this tour takes, especially vocally. There's also the little matter of how poorly it's sold (on the whole). However, given he's bound to want to capture this show for posterity and as there's no sign of him doing so in the 'States, I wonder if he'll do something akin to Live Blood and do a couple of shows somewhere - perhaps Hammersmith again - specifically for the purpose.

as mentioned before most of the European shows sold surprisingly well. So, if he does more, it's likely they will play it safe with a couple of new placed. Recording shows somewhere would be the center of those plans I am sure. We'll see.

I don't hink they will record any of the US or Canadian shows.

    Two more videos

i have moved your post into this thread as it’s more of a general post.
Further European shows won’t happen in 2023, so 2023 would be an option, but nothing has been confirmed so far.
No show has been filmed in Europe.

Outside Scandinavia and the UK, ticket sales were good.
not sure Peter will release an album in December or January. Those two months are the least realistic ones for an album Release. I think March would be more likely.

You may have noticed that a proper tour programme wasn't available until Birmingham. There is no official explanation why it came that late bit obviously it wasn't available earlier.

The programme has 100 pages (!) and costs 25€ (20 Pounds.

I have asked RealWorld and they said they will have them in the online store in the upcoming weeks.
