I don't listen to any of the rerecorded tracks actually. I did when they came out, but not any more. The new tracks are ok, but not spectacular.
The acoustic stuff on the bonus disc is quite nice, actually.

Genesis will release a special vinyl EP for this year's Record Store Day, which contains Mama and Turn It On Again (Medley) of their 1990 Knebworth performance.

Have heard the album a couple of times now but really can't get into it. And it's not the singing, I quite like the way Nad sings on his solo albums. The songs leave me ... cold...
I still like the album a lot, it has a fresh and bright sound and was a nice contrast to Both Sides. I also liked the tour a lot (with the center stage and a lot of drumming).
Is that really 25 years ago already? ....
Was to be expected, sadly. Let's hope they will start a new tour some time next year
Looking back - quite unbelievable they did that, especially since they did everything to "protect" Phil's voice for the tour.
I still wonder how this event was put together.
Yes, their bravest. ATOTT was in many ways (apart from losing the lead singer) a
Continuation. Abacab was a Full stop and restart. It’s probably their most controversial album ....
wonderful - thanks a lot for this detailed work. "Duke" records? Wasn't aware.
was also new to me. I actually haven't heard any of their albums so far, but will check them out.
I have adjusted the dates in this poll (they were still for April, now it's Sept/Oct)
votes can be changed any time.
Two years ago today, MIKE + THE MECHANICS have released their album "Out Of The Blue", which contained three brand new tracks (all sung by Roachford) and rerecordings of older classics.
What do you thin about this concept today?
This was our review:
I think the stark contrast of Abacab from the albums on either side of it, make it the unique album that it is. I love the eighties sound on Abacab. The weird time signatures of Keep It Dark and Who Dunnit? are amazing to me. The great thing about the band, and what we all love, is that they are constantly evolving and changing. They didn’t just exist, they stayed relevant.
I see your point - but I don’t think Abacab is that much 80ies sound. It has a unique sound. For me, it’s the bravest album they have ever dann, and probably their most important one.
I hope to find a slot for me and Steve by the end of the week
Thanks for the heads up, have informed the reviewer and will correct that later today ...
We are happy to present another website special, this time reflecting a band that is connected to David Rhodes (long time guitarist with Peter Gabriel)
But RANDOM HOLD also had a connection to Peter Gabriel and the Genesis management, so you may be interested to read the full story here

And, by the way, they also made VERY interesting music.
The more we discuss about the setlist, the less I expect any really big surprises (beyond Duchess).
Not sure how you get 60% of the UK? Bear in mind that most people have only had one shot of vaccine. Also, some concerts are still being rescheduled for 2022.
I thought the same. And: Would they really go for something like "you can only enter the venue when you are fully vaccinated"? I doubt that.
Well, clearly time had moved on and he was older. Yet the stage fright line continues to be trotted out. I have another interview with him from 1981 where he again talks about the prospect of touring.
Phil Morris
Interesting. When he came to the Anthony Phillips Event we organized in Germany in 2014, he brought his guitar. He later told us he wanted to play a couple of things, but then decided to leave things as they were and not do it
Last think I heard - towards the summer, but specific date yet. Crowd Funding supports will get the album earlier.
