"This is the road" is interesting. And then we got the expected Lunatics in the big room track, this time "Digging in the dirt".

Sometimes I love and sometimes I hate this track. Right now it's worth 7pts for me.

It's indeed a good album (I am not a huge Phillips fan). Of course, far away from band recordings and therefor not really comparable to other Genesis-related released (with a few exceptions), but it's nice to see how you can put together such an good album with fragments from the past ....
I agree.
I wasn't sure when he announced it. But I have listened to it a couple of times and found it really enjoyable.

Oh, another "Lunatics In The Big Room" track. A bit disappointing for the full moon (like last month) but they hint different stuff is to come. Fingers crossed...

A lot of fans anticiated this, so here is Excuse Me (1975 demo)
/ Peter Gabriel releases demo of "Excuse Me" on Bandcamp (genesis-news.com)
I think I have this on a bootleg somewhere. It's look to have it now this way, but I'd prefer some later stuff and alternate versions etc. Also something from the i/o rehearsals would be nice.

I like the first instrumental, One left standing and also I don't want it all.
It was very different, Paul Young being not there and a fresh sound.
-
It's a nice pop song - simply that - and worth 11 points for me.

Interesting approach to have the drums in so early. But not really my cup of tea!
-
Not so bad - I like Nad's voice on this one. Worth 11 pts.

Sorry, I’ll pass. Not collecting vinyl anyway and even if I did, I would own the vinyl already.
-
One of the highlights on the new album. I also like the finale a lot.

It's great to see Mike is still not tired of touring, although they seem to play it safe ....

I remember mucking about with this song endlessly in the EVE computer game.
Anyone remember that one?
me as well
I would love to hear this track in Dolby Surround / Atmos!
I give 14/15 pts

It's back to #6 in Germany after the release of the Boxset
It's still a bit annoying that the boxet has not been released with the regular album in December.
-
I quite like this album, the track itself is good, but not very good, so 11 pts from my side.

Strong agree, Christian -- I liked getting officially released and easy-to-download versions of stuff like Full Stretch and those two Gabriel/Hall demos. But this was the first time this year we got something that couldn't have been heard before...at least not these recordings.
Looking back at the 1978 recording compendium entry and seeing that the scant information available includes that they were recorded at Trident Studios...which, according to the Full Moon Club release artwork for the tracks, is where these "Early Incarnation" versions were recorded...I'm growing more and more convinced that these three releases are the three August 28th, 1978 demos from the compendium.
And that leads to the question...if that's right, which song is which?
No. 1
Yesterday's Song
The One That Doesn't Sound Like Genesis
I don't have an opinion, but my first guess will be the songs were released in the order they were recorded, and the listing on this site's page coincides with that order of notation. So No. 1 is Family Snapshot, Yesterday's Song is Games Without Frontiers, and The One...Genesis is Not One Of Us. Wild guesses tho! Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Thanks for this, I did ask myself similar questions and wondered why they haven't added this info to the band camp liner notes. In fact the images used for the tracks obviously have the original song title but eventually those were "renamed". Strange.

What a version! You have to be a die hard fan to imagine how this could become "Family snapshot".
A great archive release - more of that, please!
really looking forward for more demos from that period. Maybe on new moon, which is on Monday?
-
Haven't heard this in a long time but it's actually really good - so 12 from me.
They should have done this live, I am sure either Tim or Andrew could sing this.

Hi everybody
Our research team has been quite busy lately and now we have yet another website feature online, this time dealing with all the changes within Genesis in the summer of 1970.
Special thanks go to Mario Giammetti, who helped a lot putting this together and to Phil Morris for his valuable comments / corrections.
Here it is:
Thanks for posting this - a really interesting read!

Leaves me quite cold actually. Doesn't really fit her voice, I think.
