Not expecting a conversion if you weren't a fan before.
They may not have a song about it, but they do appear to plan to die before they get old!
They've left bit a bit late, then!

Never a band I liked, and the track above hasn't changed that, but good on them for keeping going and keeping the standard up. They should/may have done a song along the lines of "I hope I get old before I die!"
I recently saw the latest and allegedly final Star Wars film (see also separate thread) and enjoyed it. Good to see Daisy Ridley's lovely calves getting lots of exposure again.
She milked the role, then?
I gave up watching after episode 1. Dracula was too comic to be frightening which dispelled the tension & horror of other scenes, the wise-cracking nun was so convinced of her own brilliance that she was downright irritating, & several scenes including Dracula trying to enter the convent just dragged on too long. It would have worked better as a pantomime.
Disappointing – expected better from the creators of Sherlock
I haven't watched it yet (though I don't except too much, I find the Sherlock series a bit too clever for it's own good, TBH) but intend to watch ep 2 simply for the first acting role by Catherine Schell (Maya in Space: 1999) in about 30 years.

"Hi all:
Christmas Day is but a few hours away here in California, and many of you in other parts of the world are already celebrating. We wish to take this opportunity to wish all of you the best of holidays and a wonderful New Year.
We wanted to also let you know that the remastered version of Random Acts of Beauty now has a release date of April 20 with The Sound of Dreams following on its heels about a month after that. And while that may seem like a ways off, the time should go by fairly quickly. This will give Golden Robot Records the opportunity to pre-promote the albums and maximize their distribution. You can watch for video promotions to begin popping up after the first of the year.
Thank you again for your tremendous patience and we can't wait for you to hear the results.
All our best;
David Minasian
Trinity Houston"
Fair enough but it's too much trouble when I don't intend to keep the images. There should be a method of copying images for people who don't want to do that.
There used to be on the old forum, but it didn't always work. If you find an image and post it, then it would show on your computer because the image was in your cache, BUT if it was from a site that doesn't allow hotlinking (linking to images or pages other than the homepage) then others loading the forum page just saw a red X. Like I say in my last post above, why bother? I know who ELO are, and if I don't, I can soon find out.
ELO - Secret Messages.
My first time posting an album I'm listening to in over a year and a half.
I would have posted an image, but multiple versions of the album cover I posted came up as a blocked image
I don't tend to bother posting the cover image. If anyone needs to see it, they can look it up themselves.
It's decent of you to say it but I think you're being harsh on yourself. The Leave rhetoric was persuasive and co-ordinated, while the Remain campaign was terrible and rooted in presumptuous complacency. Many leave voters now feel they made the wrong choice.
At least you can absolve yourself of direct responsibility for the ensuing Johnson government!
To be fair, supporting the EU is also rooted in presumptuous complacency. The presumption being that the EU is the answer to everything. It isn't. The Eu is a slow, bureaucratic dinosaur that has seen Europe slip from being a world power to a has-been. China is the rising world power, America is arguably the current leader, but will soon wave goodbye to that, and Japan and South Korea are likely going to pass the US too.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a proud European, but Europe and the EU are not the same thing, thank goodness. Sadly, the EU and it's influence result in the complacency we see in such things as car building. Remember the days when German cars were, arguably, the best in the World? I guess maybe they now take it for granted. Take a look at any German car introduced during the last 20 years in the good & bad section of honestjohn.co.uk, the list of design issues is as long as your arm.
As for political leaders, be it Johnson or anyone else, they are all liars, and thus why do we need another 3 or 4 layers of "leaders" above our national government? All diverting funds from issues that could be better served internally.
Still, it would be nice to think that this time, the vote winners will not have to put up with another 3+ years of whinging by the hypocrites who voted in the referendum but were unwilling to accept the result.
I don't know, but based on that snippet, I'd say Nik, it's a lot like bits of his first album.
No need to apologise, glad the break helped, and nice to have you back. I did think about you a couple of months or so back.
Marie Fredriksson, of Roxette. She has had a long, difficult and ultimately unsuccessful battle with cancer, taking one of the truly great vocalists from us. Her performance on "It must have been love" is beyond outstanding. RIP.
I'm glad you took the trouble, even gladder (is that really a word?) you didn't find it a waste of time. I don't think it as bad as some say.
And yes, 1 year prior to Highly Strung, though I think that a much better album, whose single should have been "Give it away".
I've never heard it. All I've ever heard is a few moments of Maxine on some Genesis doc.
I think it's the worst album cover in the entire Genesis universe and one of the worst in the history of album covers.
If he wanted an image conveying the phrase "acting very strange" he'd have been better off with a pic of himself painted completely purple, standing on one leg and pulling a demented expression while smearing duck fat on a gargoyle. For example.
Never judge a book by it's cover!
The cover is awful, clearly done in a hurry and on the cheap, and yes, it's far from the best "Genesis solo" album, but I think you do yourself a disservice in having never heard it. You can hear it for free courtesy of youtube. Ignore the vocal quality, and focus on the lyrics and some of the more inventive ideas an the music, and who knows, you might even listen to it a second time.

Fantastic track!
Agreed. I have the original vinyl single.
I remember there being a big charity televised event in the late 80's, and I think UB40 were due to appear live from Spain, but there was an issue, the weather or something, so the TV feed had to cut to somewhere else. Cue Golden Earing, who were brilliant. An underrated band who I guess I should have researched more.
In a bizarre, life imitating art imitating life incident with a time machine, a new album is due out on 17th January, 2020.
Some of you may be aware of Tim Bowness's concept album, "Lost in the Ghost Light" which is about a prog band called Moonshot, and in particular it's leading light, Jeff Harrison.
Now, we have a compilation album by the band Moonshot, Called Worlds Of Yesterday (A retrospective,1971-1992). The album might interest people here because 4 of the members of the "band" are John Cornish (keyboards), David K Jones (Bass), James Cooper (drums) and John Wilkinson (vocals) of Genesis tribute band "Mama" http://www.mama-genesis.co.uk/ - John W is a member here and has been hinting at something "interesting" coming soon.

I can't recall if it was Tony or Phil who made that remark, but I always thought it was a bizarre excuse for not playing more individual tracks from The Lamb - as if the audience at a rock concert would care about proper lyrical context.
Indeed! On that basis, you could never play Firth of Fifth, since lyrically, it is out of context with everything!
Should be in the old forum archive I made available here shortly after this forum opened, you'll have to download it from mediafire do a text search once you have it.
A picture speaks a thousand words, so a couple of movies is a novel!
Currently playing Nick Magnus - Catharsis, arrived yesterday. Liking it so far, a tip for those who get the DVD/CD set: Play the DVD first! I did by chance, and it explains the background to the songs, so you'll get more from your first listen.
