That’s interesting. Why?
How long have you got?
From a very early age I was fascinated by British history. I was also brought up on British TV.My first visit was a year there in 1972-73 when I was 11-12.. While that period made me a fanatical traveller it also sealed the UK as my favourite place. I went to all the places I had read about & soaked it all up.Then later I read a great deal of classic British literature (Shakespeare in particular) and soaked up classic comedy (Monty Python) and met my husband through that. I wentt through a period in the 80s when I lost interest in the UK & went to the US a few times, but am now over that. It's a beautiful country & the people are for the most part kind, generous, funny, etc. Having said all that we haven't been since 2010. Far too long.

Though I have only been to Vancouver & Victoria (1990) & Toronto/Niagara Falls (2012) it's a beautiful country & I hope to return some day. Happy Canada Day!

It will be, don't worry. I was actually thinking about starting this. And what better way to start than with - not a Genesis song, yet, but my second favourite song of all time!

I would like Australia but cannot stand spiders.. They are bloody enormous over there!
What interests you about Australia?
The spiders & snakes stuff really is not an issue in cities.
I am 57, born in Australia, but I would go back to my husband's homeland in the UK tomorrow if I had a chance.

My next vote is Follow You, Follow Me because it's the Genesis song I've loved the longest. It was such a thrill to see Phil play drums on it in When In Rome - I thought for this of all songs he would have stayed down the front. I never tire of the line 'just one single tear in each passing year'. I am impressed by Gabble Ratchet's eloquent reviews but I can't even attempt to match them.
-
I have to say that Phil's affection for the Alamo, whilst impressive in its conviction, is something to which I can't relate. Indeed, it's the only aspect of his life for which I have no interest. I've never seen the films about the Alamo, I've never read the book Phil wrote on it...I just couldn't care less about it.
That said, watching Phil being interviewed is always a joy.
I've seen the Alamo. San Antonio is a beautiful city. But I don't relate to his interest in it either.

You keep telling me you're gonna help me, you're gonna help me, but you don't - TTT
(The 'but you don't part is one of my favourite moments in any Genesis song).
