Anyway, these next few weeks... it is almost like being in the waiting room.
After the ordeal and feeling so down and out nice to know it’s gonna get better.

I just received an email from the Genesis website hyping the tour. It included a brief article about the bass pedals and guitars that Mike uses on stage, an ad for the CD linked to the tour, and a clock counting down to the first show (insert pun about Counting Out Time here).
Which group do you think is most likely to spread the virus, a) those who have a fresh negative test or b) those who were vaccinated weeks or months ago (and as you admitted may contract the virus despite that)?
The US Center for Disease Control reports a breakthrough rate of .0005 percent among those who have received the vaccine. As for the problem of false negative tests, see the article below.
https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/m20-1495
Just saw that Capital One Arena in DC is requiring masks and proof of vaccines through a special app for the Eagles concerts on Aug 31 and Sept 1. I downloaded the app and inputed my vax info in prep for the Genesis concert there in November. I also read a study earlier today of an indoor concert and COVID: there were no cases reported among those who were both vaccinated and wore a mask.
Please don't mention the world being flat. Or Trump. We have enough problems here lately!
Ain’t it the truth. I actually thought while typing my comment “Hmm, maybe I should use a word other than ‘trump’.”
Maybe it is the vaccinated who have not to proof with a negative test and therefore are spreading the disease.
And maybe the world is flat. Every single bit of scientific evidence proves that the vaccinated are less likely to contract Covid. Science trumps “maybe” every time.
Display MoreYikes! 4700 cases out of 76000 attendees with a negative test OR vaccinated OR with documented recovery from infection. Outdoors!!
I wonder what the burden of sickness was among the 4700, and whether it was contained at that or ballooned further? I guess they were found because they looked for them. But if 4500 were asymptomatic they'd have bumbled along happily none the wiser.
I still think authorities will let the tour go ahead unless the situation in hospitals becomes untenable. However, I worry about the possibility of it being torpedoed halfway through if each show - and they're all indoors right? - leads to hundreds of cases.
Ugh. Fuckin covid.
Keep in mind the current variant has an incubation time of 4 days. That means it’s likely a number of people who tested positive after the event had already contracted the virus but tested negative before the event. One of the main lessons here is masks should be required. Here in the US there are two common features in each state that currently has high rates of infection: low vaccination rates and a government and population that are hostile toward the wearing of masks.
Might as well cancel the tour because of this
We’ve seen that the Covid numbers can change quickly over fairly short periods of time. I have tickets for a show in Washington, DC in 3 months (November 18th). I’m still holding out hope.
Something That clip was hilarious. Not sure the documentary can match it for laughs, but I would give it a run for its money.
It was discussed in the Genesis in the Media thread. A couple of us watched it (myself included). It was certifiably awful. So bad it was embarrassing. What’s the old saying: there goes an hour of my life I’ll never get back.
A friend in NY was freaked out by receiving an official hurricane warning text message advising citizens to make all necessary arrangements to "preserve life". However she reports that little has happened so far and all is well, thank goodness.
I experienced Category 4 Hurricane Hugo in South Carolina about 30 years ago. It was scary as hell. I wish your friend a safe weekend.
or 20,000 Afghans!...
If they worked for the US, Brits or anyone else involved in the Allied war effort there I’d welcome them. It’s the least we can do.
Grilled pork chops, grilled corn on the cob, yellow rice, and salad.
Steak, eggs, and coffee. One more reason to croon my favorite CSN&Y song to my lady: “Country Girl I think you’re pretty.”
I love the idea of Watcher being a "singalong", seeing as it's anything but. However, it appearing as the top-and-tail version of 76 and 82 would be excellent, if highly unlikely.
I would love a reprise of the Lamb/Watcher combo, circa 1982 Encore Tour. Unfortunately I have no real expectation that will happen.
Everyone could wear bat wings on their heads.
Chances are 70% of the audience wouldn't know the words to sing along. Though I do maintain that the intro and instrumental parts are so powerful, along with modern visuals, that it would make a stunning opening to a Genesis show in 2021.
Exactly! I was thinking disposable bat wings and capes. “Alright everyone, 1,2,3 . . . thrust your arms out in dramatic fashion to reveal your glorious, multi-color wings!”
AW YEAH!!
Excellent! Looks like it’s all systems go.
Thank you both. I've been almost wheezing with hysterics at the above. I'm now switching to not wanting to see it, primarily as I'm not sure it can match the hilariously awful image in my mind.
It's made me think of this "reconstruction" of a nazi senior level meeting from 90s TV comedy KYTV that still makes me laugh now. Go to 05.00 in this video. That's what I want the "doc" to be like!
That was freakin’ hilarious! The phone call in particular 😂
