Moribund!!!
Saw this live in 2007, what a track.
Then Humdrum and Solsbury Hill, because this is just a great song!
Topping the Mountain is just a slow-mo thing from the Nee Blood sessions, so nothing for me really …
Funny Man is also not really my cup to tea (would prefer something from the 80s or 90s we don‘t know), but the Bandcamp club surely is the perfect place to publish this. I am sure a lot of fans are grateful!
Looking forward to what might come next …
Not offensive at all! I see what you mean! But as for a 'rock' album, he's a singer-songwriter now, really, and even if he wanted to I don't think he could write a song like Money For Nothing or Solid Rock these days.
perhaps you are right. But his last few albums all sounded pretty much the same. So something fresh would be nice. Nevertheless the new song is good. Just not surprising
Here is a message from author Mark Bell:
Mark Bell is currently looking for an English native speaker to check his translation of the Foxtrot-Book. It's rather about style and wording than spelling. Ideal would - for instance be - an (active or retired) English teacher.
In case you are interested (or know someone who might be interested) you can directly get in contact with Mark via albumage@posteo.de
much appreciated! I enjoyed the Lamb book but it had indeed some strange wordings / expressions. Looking forward to reading the Foxtrot book…
13 from me. The album keeps growing and this is one of the standout tracks.
I like "The Silent Sun" for some reason. And when Liam from Oasis mentioned "The Conqueror" a while ago I rediscovered that one again. But I not listen to this album a lot. Sometimes two or three tracks, every now and then ...
You didn't feel the chains of the physical world being shattered, the universe opening up and darkness being obliterated by light?
well, I wasn't expecting something like that ... but I read this is a concept album and for some reason I was expecting something fresh and new. Only to find out it's the same thing again we've heard for years ... disappointing.
I gave it 13 because I just don't think it's as great as other songs from this era.
15 from my because I think it's a trademark - not only from this era. Probably their best ever track.
I may be wrong, but i think Drumeo have recorded some sessions and interviews with Phil last year. Will we ever see that? Does someone have more info?
For me it’s

I missed this first time around so I'll give my rating here. I love this song, the atmosphere is so rich and the song does 'dramatic' just perfectly. The shift in tone when the drum kicks in before the chorus and the subtle change in tone as the song progresses. All of them at the top of their game. It's the best of what the lamb is about imo. 15.
agree, but I'd say 13 points is okay for ths track (also in comparison with others).
Funny, I listened to Steve's version with Nik Kershaw yesterday and thought that's a pretty good version as well!
Not their best track but one of the better ones on Living Years. 10:15 from me.
Sad news really .... R.I.P.!
And I didn't know he was younger than Phil.
15 !!
Can't get enough of this song (although not in my top 5 list posted elsewhere ...)

This one of my favorite tracks in surround sound. Just amazing!
Display More(1) The Lamb
(2) Selling England
(3) Foxtrot
I like a lot of Phil Collins-era Genesis, but for me, the Gabriel era is the best.
Some criticize Gabriel for the sometimes opaque, dense plot of the Lamb, but name a rock concept album that doesn't have a confusing plot or theme. (I love Quadrophenia, but I don't know what the hell is going on half the time.) The Lamb can be simplified as a character on a journey of self-discovery in NYC. Even PG said that the Lamb at its core isn't that complicated. "The Carpet Crawlers" is still an amazing track, as are many others here. "Anyway" would get my nod as an underrated number.
It's a coin flip for me between Selling England and Foxtrot. I'm not a huge fan of "The Battle of Epping Forest," but the rest of the album is perfect. Supper's Ready, IMO, is still the best piece of music Genesis has ever produced. The plot of "Get 'Em Out By Friday" is hilarious.
I started to really love music as a kid in the prehistoric year of 1981. That's probably why Abacab was always my favorite from the Phil era. I soon fell in love with PG's solo and Genesis work, but more so the solo stuff.
I also liked "Genesis" a lot when it was first released. Great memories from that era of pop music, including the late '70s.
opposite here ...
my favorite is probably "W&W", it has this warm and mysterious atmosphere I always liked. Then the "Shapes" album and for personal reasons, also "We Can't Dance" (first "new" album I bought, some tracks are important for me etc).
"Selling" is sometimes in my Top 3 as well, but all in all I like the band more after they have progressed a few years.
Enoyable to read, thanks. Brings back the good memories from this year!
