It's a possible explanation, I was in my 20s during the 80' so I got the brunt of it and what I find is that many of the things that seemed like a good idea at the time, like mullets, Miami Vice or this song, heck, this album in general, apart from a couple of songs, truly weren't.

On Christmas Day Mrs B and I always have a nice quiet day, just the two of us. On Christmas Eve we'd have collected our food orders and started some of the prep to save time on the day. I then do most of the cooking on Christmas Day, which I love (but then I love cooking all year round anyway). We open our presents as soon as we're up in the morning. At some point we'll head out for a local walk. The rest of the day is pure indulgence - eating, drinking, slumped in front of the TV.

His 80s pop output is definitely not my cup of tea for the most part, but this one is rocky enough with good vocals, drums, overall dynamics and a tidy guitar solo that I like it fairly well. It's a case of appreciating it's qualities though without necessarily loving the track. 13

... and what is probably different this year?
In my case, only Boxing Day is a family tradition. Usually we manage to gather them all and go out for a long nice walk. We usually finish with some food, mulled wine etc.
The rest depends on the year's needs. Usually we host on Christmas eve, but this may change soon as the next generation needs to take over ....
On 25th, we also try to have some time for friends.
What about you? Is it all family? Or are you Flying away? Do you celebrate at all?

A decent pop song and one of the better tracks on an album of uneven quality. My main complaint is that the lyrics hint at a story but never let the listener know what's actually going on. On the old message board I once asked if others could come up with a plot that would fit the lyrics!

6. Too 80s for me and those lyrics.... I like how he sings it though; he was at his vocal best during that period, that doesn't completely redeem it but partially elevate the song.

I enjoy this one. Probably in my top 5 on the album. A great 80s pop number.
Perhaps, because I wasn't born in the 80s, I've been less exposed to this and don't find it as overplayed as some others might?
