Notes:
From our review: The song title justifies the use of an opulent church organ sound in the intro. The opener is followed by a straight rock theme, a successful verse melody and solid drumming by Craig Blundell. Then follows an almost exaggerated orchestral excursion before the tempo is picked up. The original theme has been abandoned altogether and so Nad's re-introduced vocal is a completely different melody. Basically, this piece is a flawless forecast number, compactly presented in six and a half minutes. As such, the piece works very well. But: One would have liked to hear a pure song version of it. The melody is great up to the middle part! However, Steve has once again covered himself with this piece. The passage from about 2:55 onwards is pretty much identical to the passage from 3:18 onwards on the GTR piece Imagining. -
I was in touch with John about this a while ago. There is no record company involved, but he has no definite plans for a rerelease (at least not back then).

While new music and new mixes keep coming in, we try to be up to date with part 12 of the compendium, that also deals with i/o

For many, it's just an introduction to Supper's Ready, but for me it works perfectly on its own as well!

Have just discovered Brendan Benson - great stuff

In the meantime I think I'd prefer the BS Mix. It sounds lighter and somehow better. Can't really explain.

I was also hoping for something from Genesis or Gabriel.
But of course it's always nice to see stuff from CherryRed.

In light of my own speculations about who plays what on that album, I’m curious, if the compilers of the compendium are entirely dependent on the listed credits in putting this together (which I can appreciate the gathering-of would be a task in itself) or have they been able to tap into other sources that would potentially expand on what is listed in the credits?
Good point!
In some cases it's actually difficult, but quite often you can also hear it. The author of the piece is a drummer himself. When he's not sure about stuff, it will clearly me marlked. And of course we see this compendium as a living document that can be updated with new info any time.

By coincidence, this will also be Peter Gabriel's first ever solo show in Nottingham.

They probably wanted to do a second show in London and then went for Nottingham

GENESIS - Horizon
Year: 1972
Album: Foxtrot
Working title: ?
Credits: Hackett
Lyrics: No
Length: 1:39
Musicians: Steve Hackett
Played live: 1972, 1973

Notes: Horizons was probably never intended to be a piece that would leave a lasting mark on the band's history. It was a transition to something really big - and as a gem it became hardly less famous than Supper's Ready. To this day, the tiny instrumental still holds its appeal, probably because of its simplicity and the fact that it aptly sketches Hackett's craft alongside other gems like Firth of Fifth. -
I'm looking forward to studying this, but picking up on earlier comments, I had a look at the Lizzy entry. The release date quoted was a Saturday and I need to review further.
Just let us know when you have more info, Phil!

Hi there everyone!
So, I have just recently gotten into collecting vinyl-and part of what I'm doing is tracking down records from across my childhood, which happens to be while Phil Collins' solo career was at its peak in the 80's.
I have a question, and I'm not sure where else to ask it, so I'm asking here:
I'm collecting the 7" or 12" singles which contain b-sides from his albums (Man w/the Horn, You've Been in Love, etc.). My question is, was there ever a vinyl single release from the ...But Seriously album that included That's How I Feel as a b-side? This is my favorite PC b-side, but so far I've found it on one CD single release, but I can't find it on vinyl anywhere, including Discogs...
Am I just not looking in the right places? Does That's How I Feel really only exist on CD? Hopefully one of you here can answer this..
Discogs is always a good source and as far as I know, the track wasn't released on vinyl (Obviously there are 7" versions with "Around The World..." but not with "That's How I Feel").

This year's Record Store Day will happen on 22 April. The only Genesis-related release will be the GTR album on purple vinyl.
