Maybe this live introduction by Phil is the source for this spelling? :/

    That's great! ^^

Of course, that does introduce a possibility that could actually be the explanation for why it is spelled that way in the credits, i.e., it could be a nod to the fact that Phil and/or others have (intentionally or unintentionally) mispronounced his name so often over the years that it felt right to spell his name bizarrely in the credits in what could be the band's final official video release. An "in-joke", as it were.

After noticing the misspelling, I did analyze the end credits more closely. It appears to be the only misspelling in them. So, I guess we have two possibilities: an incompetent typist or an inside joke. I wonder if there is any way to find out for sure... :/

I just watched the Kino Lorber “The Last Domino?” documentary (I didn’t get to see it on TV (I’m not even sure if it was shown on TV in the US), so I got the DVD recently).

Anyway, I thought it was quite well done, and I’m quite glad that I got it (especially if there will be no official DVD/BluRay release from the tour itself). However, in the final credits, the mother of all typos was clearly evident. I had to rewind it again to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. No, I saw it properly the first time…

If you have the DVD itself (or the ability to see it on TV again at some point), check out the overly (and ridiculously) misspelled version of Daryl’s name in the closing credits. According to the person who typed the credits, his name is, allegedly, “Darly Struermur”.

A misspelling in the end credits of a film, of course, sometimes happens. However, this one is one of the more aggressively “creative” ones I have ever seen. I was so shocked by how badly executed it was that I have to admit that it made me guffaw briefly, both in humor and in disappointment. How did no one notice it before the discs were manufactured? 🤷‍♂️

Yes, TMB would never skip the Keswick on any North American tour they do. They always get rapturous ovations there, and every show is a sellout or nearly one.

Just an as FYI, I discovered a small detail accidentally when I checked on the Palladium shows. When I clicked on the Ticketmaster link for the shows, they are being billed there as a "retirement tour" for the Lamb. Let me be abundantly clear here: it's NOT being billed as a retirement tour for TMB themselves; however, just from the billing, it does appear that this is the last time they are doing "The Lamb" in its entirety for an entire tour.

So, something to think about if you are on the fence about seeing them this time.

I might catch one of the Palladium shows - it would be fun to see a performance of the Lamb literally on Broadway! ^^ Of course, I'll see one of the Keswick shows too once they are announced (which I'm pretty sure will be next week).

    Genesis next monday :)

Enjoy the show like you have never enjoyed a show before! (I know that you will - it’s a great one! 😎).

I really feel like this tour was an unexpected gift, and I am so happy the European shows are going off as planned! 👍

For the moment, my next show in in early March, and - wouldn't you know it - it's a Genesis-tribute band! ^^ It's a band called "Rael" - apparently, they do Gabriel-era Genesis and Gabriel solo songs during their shows. I have been trying to see this band for a while now; however, something, would always come up that would prevent me from seeing them. Now, it seems I will finally get my chance (stay away, Omicron variant)!

…and the Omicron variant has faded enough for this show to happen later today! 😎

I’m looking forward to it!

Following on from the sad news of Ian McDonald's passing, a new documentary film about Crimson is being released. Trailer here. Look out for IM.

Thanks for that link! (The timing of this information being virtually concurrent with Ian’s passing is somewhat eerie…)

I remember hearing "Follow You, Follow Me", "Misunderstanding", "Turn It On Again", "Abacab", and "Man on the Corner" on my local rock radio station (98 Rock in Baltimore). At least a few of those made it to my mix-tapes recorded from the radio :) MTV added "Missed Again" and "Abacab" to regular play, and on one of their Saturday night concerts they showed 3SL, sealing my interest in the band.

My Dad liked Phil's singles as well as the Genesis tunes playing on the radio. He wasn't a musician but had a good ear for a good drummer & he really liked Phil's style. Dad took me to see Asia & Yes in 1983, and I remember we talked about catching Genesis, but the show was in DC and mid-week... just couldn't make it happen. No doubt he would've loved the show as much as I would have!

I have the same memories as you for song that made the radio/made it onto mixtapes! ^^

Isn’t it amazing to think now that radio was dominated in the 80s by Genesis/Genesis-related acts? Genesis themselves, Mike & the Mechanics, GTR, and of course Phil’s solo work were never absent from the airwaves all decade.

I’m envious that you got to see Asia before they broke up originally. I did finally get to see them when they had their 25th anniversary tour and afterward (they were still amazing then). I also saw Yes on the 90125 tour; my show was in September 1984 in Greensboro, NC…and…that show was my very first concert! Ah, the good old days…

The stations around Philly that played rock music back then were 94.1 WYSP and 93.3 WMMR. I listened to both stations, and they loved Genesis. Since it was Philadelphia, they would even play deep album tracks, e.g., WYSP would regularly play songs like “You Might Recall” on the radio, despite that song being a leftover from the Abacab sessions. I miss old radio… ^^

    3SL/Encore: my all-time favorite tour!

One (of several) I wish I could have caught. I was "age-challenged" enough not to be able to go. ^^

Me, too! I "discovered" Genesis around 1980-1, so Duke/Abacab/3SL/Genesis were my initial exposure to the band and important in my overall musical development. Really wish I could've caught one of those tours!

Yes, my discovery was just a couple of years before yours. The first song I ever knew was a Genesis song was "Follow You Follow Me".

I empathize with your inability to catch them live sooner. The first tour I saw them on was for IT (I did get to see 3 shows from that tour, though). I was just barely old enough to have seen them on the MAMA tour; however, having just gotten my driver's license a few months earlier, and my parents' idea of "rock concerts" at the time being the same as those from the 70s, there was no way they were giving me permission to go. ^^ Oh well - at least the boots from those shows at The Spectrum are very good.

OneForTheVine & MoonlitKnight - thanks for your support! It's going to be a lot of fun. In addition to the 7-member core band, we will have real horns for "No Reply At All". Stick around for the encore - hopefully some nice surprises in there!

That will be great to hear - NRAA w/ a proper horn section, that is.

I’m glad that you are honoring the albums that you are. I really regard 1980-83 (and 84, including the end of the MAMA Tour) as one of the real high points of the band’s existence; so, I’m happy for any act to highlight any part of that era. Thank you for doing so!

If you are lucky you can find a spot on Market Street close to the venue. Parking is metered, but free after 6:30pm. When I go to see a show at The Grand I usually park at the DoubleTree hotel's garage at N.King & 7th streets. I think it was $11 the last time I parked there for a show.

That is exactly the information that I needed - thank you!

I will most probably be there then! 8)

I was going to see Nick Mason next week at the Beacon Theater in NYC, but that show/tour has been postponed (wisely, I should add). I was never crazy about the original late January date in the first place (i.e., the threat of snow, etc.), so this postponement is actually a blessing of sorts. Since I was able to snag a great seat for this show originally (4th row, dead center), I was never going to ask for a refund. (Let's hope the show is rescheduled before January 2023!)

Well, you may have just helped fill out my concert calendar for May!

How difficult is it to find parking near The Baby Grand in Wilmington? Is it pricey or more reasonable? I have always wanted to come down to Wilmington to see shows (it's not much further than going to Philadelphia from where I live in PA), but the uncertainty about the parking situation has always put me off trying to go in the past.

Well, anyway, put me down as a strong "maybe"/leaning towards "yes" for coming to the show! :thumbup:8)

Merry Christmas to all of you from the GNC team.

Thanks for your interest and support this year!

Nice touch with the question mark, a nice nod to "The Last Domino?". ^^

Merry Christmas to all! I feel like our band already gave us a great gift by touring in the UK and North America this year. I certainly appreciated it! I hope those in Europe and the UK (ok, London, anyway) enjoy the shows in 2022.

VICE: "... Genesis Has Always Been a Great Band"

I thought this was a surprisingly good piece about the band, from VICE, of all places.

…and I’ll add my thanks as well!

That was a very welcome read. It was perfect to read while “Duchess” is playing in the background (yes, it really is)! 8)

P.S. The bit that made me smile the most was the “merits of ‘Man Of Our Times’” comment. ^^ I’ve always really liked that song, despite many not rating it very well. (I am now listening to this very song - can you tell I’m listening to Duke?)
