i see this thread lacks a poll ...?
I do not have too many AP albums (Geese, Sides and Tarka) so I was wondering what the majority thinks are his best albums.

I remember playing it only once. So I do not really care about it. It is not that often that I listen to albums only once.
my advanced copy arrived so I hope I will listen to it more than once
Will let you know what I think about it.
Selling england by the pound
Duke
Invisible touch
interesting choice. Very few fans would pair Selling England and Invisible touch. Can you tell us why you love them both?
Daryl has mentioned a track plus some additional info we didn't discuss in detail so far
an instrumental section that contains "That's all"
ouch ... the cover image is really ... not good. The first track Memory lane, that was released a while ago, is promising!
I like vinyl, but I am not a hardcore collector (I don't need ten different colored versions from one album). I also have a lot of CDs and also have losless audio files. Don't like streaming. I like to celebrate music, so I take some time to do it properly.
"Ray Wilson Music Ltd." or "RWMUSICLTD"
I did it via Paypal.
Did receive the album a couple of days ago. Sounds very promising so far! More later
Have received my copy yesterday and will start listening this evening
always wanted to give this album more attention, so this might be the time to do so. Have just ordered the advanced copy.
Hymns are a bit dangerous, because they risk becoming World Youth Day songs !?
However Wingbeats is a mix of Steve Hackett's most catchy music!
The more I listen to it, the more Wingbeats sounds pretty weak. It's a bit like it was put together from some sort of prog/world music construction set (that Steve uses quite frequently apparently), so I hope the rest of the album is stronger.
The album has been sent out to the crowdfunders and arrived yesterday. So far, I am really impressed.
haven’t received my copy so far. Out of the three tracks we know already, You could have been someone is my favorite.
The cover image is still a mystery to me … perhaps it’s just a bad image
Not my cup of tea. Still looking forward to hearing the whole piece though !
You might recall and Evidence of autumn are my favorites. I also like Feeding the fire and On the shoreline from the later period.
#5 and 6 were tougher. I went for Let is now make love and then Anything now from the CAS sessions
I never really thought WFTBO is a great track. To me, his first album ist music by somebody who is seeking his way. WFTBO was surely a dead end, so it remains quite unusual in his career.
same applies to Moribund, but that became a secret fan favorite. And I was blown away when he did that live in 2007
I picked Moribund
And Solsbury hill, plus Humdrum
Any idea when we actually get to hear one of the tracks? There's usually an early video release.???
Good spot, there are more similarities than I thought. I prefer Epping because of the Reverend section but both good tracks. I suppose from Nursery Cryme to Wind and Wuthering and probably beyond, there was always a story track with a bit of humour, and lots of characters - Harold the Barrel, Get ‘em out by Friday, Epping Forest, perhaps Counting out Time (arguably the whole of the Lamb), Robbery, Mouse’s night. But Epping and Robbery do have a lot of overlaps.
Harold is a nice character
I also didn't know about the similarities, thx for the heads up! Fascinating what fans can find.
I’d like to see Steve make a more simpler album actually. An album of songs with different singers, a little bit stripped down.
This is of course no complaint. Just a thought. Being a fan of Guitar Noir, I think this could be a fascinating project.
Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to his new album as well.
Wow. Have never seen this before - thanks for sharing.
Should have been on the WCD bonus disc
It would be totally awesome. The song rocks. I have already said this or Abacab is my preference.
I'd also guess it will either be Abacab or ... Squonk. Actually, I would be disappointed if it was Duke's intro again.
Looking closly at this box set I noticed a typo in the lyrics sheet. Mine has a place to call my own on the lyrics sheet labled a place to call your own lol. Opps. This typo is right above the lyrics looks like the only typo.
These kind of mistakes are (sadly) not unusual for Genesis releases (although this one was not approved by the band anyway). Any news about the new edition Cherry Red are planning? Haven't heard anything for ... 2 years?
Some background info on the Montreux gig can be found in our news section here:
Thanks for the additional info! Wasn't aware of the power supply issue during that show. Great quality as well. I wish there was more ... and why not release it?
