Still no word on the Worcester gig for which I have a ticket, but I was never expecting it to go ahead. I wonder why the band has yet to announce the trip is cancelled.

I look forward to reading this in detail. Coincidentally, I came across a Marquee Club advert for the band in 1981 just last week, which I'd never seen before.

Interesting. When he came to the Anthony Phillips Event we organized in Germany in 2014, he brought his guitar. He later told us he wanted to play a couple of things, but then decided to leave things as they were and not do it
That's a pity it didn't happen. The 1981 quote I mentioned:
"...It would be fun, honestly, to have some of the stuff done live. Besides which, I miss the volume. The volume is really stirring. But there it is; you can't have everything. There are so many drawbacks to touring that in a way I'm happier to put up with the slight sadness of not hearing some of the stuff live..."
ok. It confuses me a bit. If he was really suffering from stage fright, why would he consider touring and talk about it?
Well, clearly time had moved on and he was older. Yet the stage fright line continues to be trotted out. I have another interview with him from 1981 where he again talks about the prospect of touring.

Who's the artist.
Scorps - Blackout.
I was faxed the press release upon issue. I just couldn't get my head around the "20 year experiment..." jest and that diverted my attention from the implications. Once it sunk in I'm not certain quite how I felt. I know I wasn't devastated norbelieved it to be the end of the best of the band. What I didn't enjoy was all the - inevitable but often ridiculous - subsequent assertions over who would be the new singer. Indeed, it's a topic which still riles when it's regularly aired.

I am currently drinking the only beer brewed in north America in pitch lined wooden barrels. It has a quite lovely flavor, and really tastes like something you'd get if you walked into a small tavern in a village in the Czech republic and asked for a glass of the local brew.
Notch, pitch lined pils. Very hard to get since it sold out in hours but delicious if you can find it.
Where are all these bourbon and whisk(e)y cask-aged beers I'm drinking from the US originating, then?
Further to my original interview quote, I just rediscovered this today from a 1981 interview:
"...It [the prospect of touring] would be fun, honestly, to have some of the stuff done live. Besides which, I miss the volume. The volume is really stirring. But there it is; you can't have everything. There are so many drawbacks to touring that in a way I'm happier to put up with the slight sadness of not hearing some of the stuff live..."
I've just come across TRANSATLANIC! Never actually heard of them before though I find they are big and been going on and off for 20 years. I read about their new album and looked them up on you tube.. They are great . Definitely getting their albums. On my birthday list next month.. I think they will be one of my new favourite bands.
Hackett has guested with them (playing ...Hogweed live) and Roine Stolt toured with Hackett. They've also done (and released) the occasional Genesis cover, including the aforementioned Hackett appearance.
Anybody knows where to find the 2 alternate versions ? I've looked for them and thought I had them but I always end up with the 5:45 version ?
The promo CD contains the radio edit. Seems it can be picked up for a reasonable price.

Then Jerico - Hammersmith Odeon 20/3/89
To be followed by:
King Crimson - Brescia 20/3/74
Ah, I did not know that. Which song?
Ne t'enfuis pas c/w Un baiser d'enfant.
It was reissued just a year or so ago.
You're right now that you mention it. She has done some French too (I think) on Joanni and perhaps a little on Get Out Of My House so yeah she probably would be up for a foreign language vocal.
Bush has released a French language single.
Obviously a lot of tracks were not considered for this release.
I wonder if there's a complete list of tracks somewhere (i.e. tracks that Phil appears on / collaborations) and - are there plans to do another set like Plays well with others?
I'm not sure we'll ever get a "complete" list. There's still stuff coming out of the woodwork, such as the Neil Innes single which John Anthony mentioned just a few weeks ago.

Bowie's BLACKSTAR
What a fantastic album .... especially when it's the last one
I just can't get on with this one. Never been a big Bowie fan, admittedly, but I really like Next Day, so had high hopes for this. I guess he was like Banks in that you never knew quite what to expect next.
Marillion - Script For A Jester's Tear. Released on this day in 1983.
There's a full documentary on the making of the album. It was aired in the UK around the time of release and was included on a more recent reissue. Presumably the whole thing is on YouTube.

The fact it's coming out on Cherry Red suggests there has been some sort of licensing arrangement. It's the same (parent) company as the Banks reissues. (And now does Ant's stuff.) As for the LP being available from the official store, I put this down to it being the US one. Has anyone checked the European?
Oh, and just to clarify, today isn't the anniversary of the album's release. I was pleased to see the store email just said "March". It seems a coincidence the email was issued on the day some areas of the internet say it was released.

Selling by the pound
Trick of the tail
Wind and Wuthering / Duke
Do you have a rarity I'm missing?
That double-play cassette where W&W is teamed with Duke and counts as one album.
Or am I missing something with the choosing three thing?
Well, it might happen that the UK will find a way to make these shows happen (i.e. vaccination etc).
But then you have plenty of tickets sold to fans outside the UK. And they might come from countries that are behind their schedule. Also, I assume they may introduce some sort of vaccination pass to let people in
Anyone who cannot attend rescheduled dates is entitled to a full refund. As for "vaccination passes", even if such a highly controversial item comes to pass venues will not want to have to deal with them as when tickets were originally sold, there was no such caveat for entry. I suspect an "all-or-no-one" approach will prevail.
