I can't fathom why Mike would grant his approval of a remixed FGTR, but won't contemplate a much-requested remix of Smallcreep's Day

Full marks - love this track.
It sounds particularly good in 5.1 surround on the Blue Box Extras disc.

Seems like a smashing bloke but it looks like there are no real drums here, if so I’ll be giving it a miss.
Nick is credited with 'percussion' which I suppose could include some drums.
But in any case, I respectfully challenge that 'no real drums' is an odd red line to draw in terms of whether an album has merit.

why should he? He doesn't own the rights anymore. CherryRed / Esoteric own the rights.
As part of the deal signing the rights over to Cherry Red/Esoteric, he could theoretically have reserved the right to exert some element of control over future releases of FGTR.
I'm not saying that's the case, just that it's a possibility.
Anyway, if he's nowhere to be seen, that works for me!

Please tell me Jonathan King isn't involved.

Yes but the Half-speed master changes considerably the sound and dynamics.
Quote from BenThe sound is heavier, yet very dynamic, and the voice much more forward. It's a radical transformation!
Yeah, right.
It doesn't bring the voice forward though, does it? That's what a remix is for.

You can listen SO version remixed by Abbey Road a few years ago.
Remixed by whom at Abbey Road? Where can one listen to this?
-
yeah yeah yeah!
Now I only have to make this fit in my work / family schedule
No, no, no!
You have to make sure your work / family fits with your Mechanics schedule

I guess somebody got fired over this. It's quite a cock-up to put so much effort into producing what looks like quite a nice package, only to find nobody checked the licencing.

Don't like the cover, which looks like something from a bargain bin, maybe a cover for a compilation of music you'd hear in a shop that sells scented candles and stuff made of llama wool.
I see the album photography is credited to 'Dirk Smorgasbord' which looks to me like one of Ant's famous alter ego pseudonyms

The Steve Gadd drum riff on its own is worth a solid 12
-
How can it be anything other than a 15?!

Railway stations. Please remove all those pianos so that while waiting in the station, which might already not be a great experience, we don't have to listen to people fumbling around on the keyboard in a setting where the acoustics make their selfish ineptitude even more annoying.
Unless a certain Mr Tony Banks is in the vicinity in which case he is welcome to fumble around for as long as he likes.

What about the handwriting?
At least Phil managed to learn joined-up writing at school.

At this rate Decomposing Man is looking like a bit of a career high.
Love it, lol

Don't want to be too much of a grammar pedant (and my German certainly isn't the greatest
) but I would have gone with 'newest music'.
Anyway, however new or old it is, it's a brilliant album - one of Ant's best, in my view.

The latest Anthony Phillips album with new music, Strings Of Light, will be rereleased on 2CD on 5 April.
I don't think there is any 'new music' here - "The audio content of this new Edition is the same as the 2 CDs from the original release." i.e. from October 2019.
That said, it's a wonderful album and if you can get your hands on the original 5.1 mix, it's well worth having.
