Display MoreChristian,
I’m also fully vaccinated. I don't think that should be a problem on this side. I will also be at the Glasgow concert (Friday, October 8). Maybe we could meet there before?
I'm especially worried about the quarantine measures still in place for foreigners. I hope they will lift the restrictions, otherwise it will be difficult for me to come.
So, I’m waiting to see if I can get my plane tickets.
See you soon,
Benjamin
indeed. I hope it will be as easy as that: show your vaccination certificate and then visit the show and you won't be quarantined.
At the moment, numbers are rising again in the UK, which makes me worry. So we have to wait. If we go, I'm sure we can find a way to meet up
By the way - Genesis also had a rather strange appearance in 1986, 10th May to be precise - and this resulted in a mimed / playback "performance" which was used for Top Of The Tops. Phil was on tour with Eric Clapton at the time and was playing in Montreux as well, so that's why this was done there and not in the UK.
Thanks to The_Genesis_Archive for the additional info.
Following the albums poll about Phil Collins and Genesis, we'd like to do the favorite tracks poll also for PETER GABRIEL.
This one is about his album III, released in 1980.
So far available:
This album seems to have a "logical" top three. Nevertheless I thought Love To Be Loved and Washing Of The Water would perform better.
So, Mercy Street was #1 for a while here, but now it's Red Rain. Unsurprisingly, Big Time does not have that many fans (though I must admit, I like to listen to this when I'm out for a running workout)
My burning shed copy was delivered a couple of weeks back. Pretty good so far, I'm up to Midsummer nights dream. Author is Geoffrey Feakes, and he also did the Moody Blues one. It was spot on, but there are a couple of mistakes I've spotted so far. Can't remember what one of them was, but the other was that the Stepp Digital Guitar made it's debut on an album of Steve's on Guitar Nior. Not so. It was used on Momentum, most notably on Concert For Munich. It was also the highlight of the tour for that album.
ah - so the acoustic and classical albums are included then. Wasn't sure about that!
It might’ve been posted in another thread but Madison Square Garden in NYC is going to have their first full house concert in the next week or so with the Foo Fighters. Proof of vaccination is the only way to be allowed in.
ok. but this may also change until Genesis will be in the states. The UK / Ireland tour is earlier. I want to go to Glasgow. I hope this is possible then - I mean to travel etc. I am fully vaccinated, so that won't be a problem (for me).
Besides a discussion about politics, we are all curious and waiting for the rules that apply to the upcoming gigs and that’s the time when we will have facts. In Europe, the Most likely way will be a vaccination proof or a negative test to access the concert.
For those of you who don’t know this one
a nice documentary about the kick off of the 1992 North American leg, Opening Night, is on YouTube as well.
it was aired in the US back in 1992 and also in Germany prior to the “premiere” broadcast of the final show at knebworth
Check out the tour report including dates
Some background info on the Montreux gig can be found in our news section here:
My choices are
Wallflower
San Jacinto
Lay Your Hands On Me
I never really liked Fishing Net, but find Kiss Of Life pretty cool (listen to that in German!).
GENESIS live in Montreux 1987: 40 minutes in superb quality have appeared on YouTube thanks to Genesis Museum!
This includes the In The Cage Medley!
If you haven't heard it already, I can't recommend Groenoordhaal, Leiden 1981-10-03 highly enough. The sound quality is not great, but it's absolutely hilarious. The crowd was full of people who were not particularly fond of the Abacab-era tracks, and they booed them vociferously. At first Phil played it off as a lark, but by the end I think he was rather irked indeed. As if to mollify them, the band played a sublime Firth of Fifth. I have many boots that sound better than this one, but there are few I love more.
indeed a unique show
but then again, what defines peak? I don't think it has to be connected with audience response. It can be, but doesn't have to. And of course we all have different perspectives. But I am also sure that musically, based on what they WERE able to do, their peak must have been somewhere between Lamb and Abacab.
Five years ago, before Phil announced his Not Dead Yet Tour, he did a couple of smaller appearances on stage, some of those was for his Little Dreams Foundation.

Quite a few people have picked “That Voice Again”, I also like that tune and was really happy he rediscovered the track during the Still Growing Up Tour. Then of course it was played regularly during the Back To Front tour.
also, the so DNA version of that is great! With vocals by Youssou N”Dour
That's really fascinating. FInally a better "reaction to..." video. Those videos with young people reacting to old music have become a bit boring, so this is really refreshing. Thanks for sharing!
leave me wondering whether it will be worth it for me to get the Japanese edition with the exclusive bonus tracks!
or one of the 48 different colored vinyl editions?
