Well, I was born too late for that. But friends of mine still tell me stories about that wonderful show at Hamburg's St Pauli stadium in 1982.
On the other hand - I also saw them in Drtmund 1998

The comment about Steve's "on track" book's existence being "a little surprising" is odd. He has been the most prolific solo member of the band, there's a lot more to explore there than with other members.
no doubt
but obviously Genesis, Gabriel (or Collins) have a bigger audience than Steve and therefore most likely more fans who would be interested in buying such a book. That's all.
Not sure how many of you know this video. It's just a wonderful piece of (Genesis) history.
enjoy ... and comment
My Invisible Touch playlist is:
Do The Neurotic
Land Of Confusion
Tonight Tonight Tonight
Throwing It All Away
Feeding The Fire
Domino
Anything She Does
The Brazilian
problem is: I have lost the album title
I became a fan just before WCD came out, simply because I was young at the time. So I moved backwards through their catalogue and found something everywhere on each album. Obviously I became a big fan and I still am. I also know people who became fans in 2006/2007.
For me, an album like Invisible Touch opened many doors for the band, especially more people discovering their early days. A lot of them became fans. But of course those million sellers often attract people who just consume and don't become fans.
Then again, you have the live shows. Hardcore fans are a minority there when the band sells out 18,000 seats in an arena. So they obviously feel the need to balance the set. Which they managed quite well in 2007.
For this / next year, I just hope they are brave enough to surprise us all.

I had tickets for the Calling All Stations tour, before they cancelled the US leg
That's great. Did you see a show each on every tour or did you see more sows? Which ones? And which was was your all time favorite Genesis gig?
That someone was me
We will have a review about Steve's book plus the Genesis On Track and the old Chris Welch complete guide online in 4-6 weeks.
I haven't read any of those books, so the review will of course be done by someone who did read all of them.
Looks like there are quite a few new books about Genesis & solo, besides the most common ones (biographies by Collins, Hackett, Rutherford, Macphail, books by Mario Giammetti)
We have compiled some info for you, additions welcome
So ...
Been listening to that album a lot and I still try to figure out where this stands in Fish's discography.
I enjoy a couple of track, like the title track, Walking On Eggshells or Garden Of Remembrance.
Bus especially he longer tunes Rose of Damascus and Waverley Steps leave me cold.
Little Man What Now, in contrast, is much simpler, but also much better.
So what are your thought about Weltschmerz?
Not sure if this is the right place to put this but I thought you would all be interested in this. Have just come across it. Transatlantic, one of new favourite bands though they've been going for ages.

I wasn't aware they did that together. Thanks for sharing, will take a closer look tomorrow.
Christian, as a former history teacher, I’m super fascinated by the fact that you saw Genesis in Germany not too long after communism fell there. Was Gelsenkirchen in East Germany? What was that concert like? I saw your from Dresden. Did you grow up in East Germany? I love getting to know people from different backgrounds.
no, actually I was born in Remscheid, which is something like 70km away from Gelsenkirchen. It’s in the Ruhr Area and the concert took place in the stadium of the football club Schalke 04.
I moved to Dresden in 2007, so I cannot tell you what it’s like. But I do have a circle of friends here and we talk about music a lot with a beer or two (not at the moment but that will hopefully change). And they have the eastern background, driving to Hungary to get specific records, being in Berlin listening to Genesis 1987 when they played on the other side of the wall etc.
more interesting in that respect might be the Berlin shows Phil did in 1990, that was after the wall came down but before reunification.
Thanks for your feedback. Some little things have been adjusted, nothing major, just based on the feedback from the band (i.e. Timeline, oder of events etc)
I will be happy and believe it when they really do it. Enough speculation ...
exactly. Got tix for the second Glasgow shows, but despite the tour itself, I hope it's feasable regarding travel etc...

Recently, I played the "Shapes" album a lot. Still not in my Top 3, but this has grown a lot over time. Especially Silver Rainbow and Just A Job To Do
Interesting comment about More Fool Me. For me, this has no relation to the later solo career, same with Silver Song, which he did with Ant.
Ex-Mechanc Paul Carrack turns 70 today - happy birthday.
Do you like his music?
What's your favorite album and track?
For me, Beautiful World is his best album and I like the track "Ain't No Love" a lot.
I actually think over here the numbers are as low as they are probably going to go. Thankfully numbers have dropped considerably from 1250 deaths in January to 4 yesterday. Due to the superb vaccination program we have had over here. Problem is who knows how these new mutations are going to affect things by September?. Hopefully they don’t but as I said our government is cautious in the extreme. Probably for good reason but sooner or later you just have the face the facts that it’s here now. And we must get back to doing the things we enjoy sooner rather than later ie, concerts.
mutations are the biggest risk factor. Apart from that, it will be about the situation then and Mike said in his podcast that they does not see anything like social distancing realistic for these shows
It’s actually a great podcast. I recommend to take some time and listen to this!
Steve‘s headliner show at Night Of The Prog in Germany has been moved to 23rd July 2022.
