Yes, saw this on YouTube a while ago. A wonderful version! But of course it looks like all has been recorded prior to the airing, so it's not really live (which doesn't affect the quality of this version in any form)

I also think his New Blood version is extremely strong. It's kind of the opposite to the othe rlive versions, as it starts limited and ends with many instruments.

A song that really touches me!

Not sure how many of you know this video. It's just a wonderful piece of (Genesis) history.

    enjoy ... and comment

    My Invisible Touch playlist is:

    Do The Neurotic

    Land Of Confusion

    Tonight Tonight Tonight

    Throwing It All Away

    Feeding The Fire

    Domino

    Anything She Does

    The Brazilian

problem is: I have lost the album title :D

I became a fan just before WCD came out, simply because I was young at the time. So I moved backwards through their catalogue and found something everywhere on each album. Obviously I became a big fan and I still am. I also know people who became fans in 2006/2007.

For me, an album like Invisible Touch opened many doors for the band, especially more people discovering their early days. A lot of them became fans. But of course those million sellers often attract people who just consume and don't become fans.

Then again, you have the live shows. Hardcore fans are a minority there when the band sells out 18,000 seats in an arena. So they obviously feel the need to balance the set. Which they managed quite well in 2007.

For this / next year, I just hope they are brave enough to surprise us all.

    So ...

Been listening to that album a lot and I still try to figure out where this stands in Fish's discography.

I enjoy a couple of track, like the title track, Walking On Eggshells or Garden Of Remembrance.

Bus especially he longer tunes Rose of Damascus and Waverley Steps leave me cold.

Little Man What Now, in contrast, is much simpler, but also much better.

So what are your thought about Weltschmerz?

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but I thought you would all be interested in this. Have just come across it. Transatlantic, one of new favourite bands though they've been going for ages.

I wasn't aware they did that together. Thanks for sharing, will take a closer look tomorrow.

Christian, as a former history teacher, I’m super fascinated by the fact that you saw Genesis in Germany not too long after communism fell there. Was Gelsenkirchen in East Germany? What was that concert like? I saw your from Dresden. Did you grow up in East Germany? I love getting to know people from different backgrounds.

no, actually I was born in Remscheid, which is something like 70km away from Gelsenkirchen. It’s in the Ruhr Area and the concert took place in the stadium of the football club Schalke 04.

I moved to Dresden in 2007, so I cannot tell you what it’s like. But I do have a circle of friends here and we talk about music a lot with a beer or two (not at the moment but that will hopefully change). And they have the eastern background, driving to Hungary to get specific records, being in Berlin listening to Genesis 1987 when they played on the other side of the wall etc.
more interesting in that respect might be the Berlin shows Phil did in 1990, that was after the wall came down but before reunification.
